Medical Administrative Assistants 

Medical administrative assistants are responsible for the secretarial work in medical offices, hospitals and other healthcare facilities.  They welcome patients, answer telephone calls, and they may also schedule appointments and medical procedures. Other additional duties vary according to the job setting.  In a small office, some assistants will also keep records, order supplies, bill patients, complete insurance forms and transcribe physician dictation.
