The Dogs in George Orwell's Animal Farm are clearly the Russian K.G.B., or maybe even Stalin's personal body guards. They are secretly raised from pups by Napoleon. Their presence, much like the Russian secret police, intimidates many of the animals and pressures them to ask no more questions. They are used by Napoleon to overthrow and expell Snowball, (i.e. Trotsky). It seems that the dogs follow Napoleon blindly, much like th K.G.B. Stalin needed this type of secret "army" to suppress anyone that got in his way, and to expell Trotsky. Napoleon later uses them to do more evil acts like executing the traitors, and helping him maintain power.
