These days gigging, rehearsing, and
recording with "Mojo Rattle" occupies
most of my time in the music field. For me it's a labor of love. I have to admit that
playing with Wayne and Rick has been a very rewarding experience. They are great friends and truly two of the most talented and
professional musicians I've ever worked
with. I look forward to many more good
times with these two gifted people. We
knew we had something good going back to
the days when we were the rhythm section
for "Joce'lyn B and the Detroit Street
Players." Things grew stale after awhile
so we took a chance, left the group and
formed "Mojo Rattle". I'm glad we did.
I've been having a blast ever since.

"LITTLE BIT OF EVERYTHING"
"Little Bit Of Everything" is the
name of my first solo CD. It's a
collection of songs that have been
floating around for sometime now.

INFLUENCES
When I first picked up a bass guitar,
a Kingston that my Dad bought for me
when I was sixteen for sixty bucks, I
immediately bought some albums and
started figuring out the bass lines.
Albums, you know, those large, round
circular disks made of vinyl that are
doomed for extinction. This is basically
how I learned to play.
I wore many an album so thin that you
could almost see through it. About ten
years later I took some lessons from
Ralph Armstrong who is one of Detroit's
greatest bass players. From my first
garage band to the stage at the "Roxy"
and the "Hollywood Bowl" these players,
listed below, have influenced me
throughout my career and have helped me
to become the musician that I am today.
Links to their web pages and the gear I use are included below.

RUBBIN L BOWS
In 1991 I was in "The Henry Gibson
Jr. Trio" and we won the "Hennessey
Cognac Jazz Search Competition" finals
which were held at "The Bottom Line" in
N.Y.C. Being the winners we were asked
to open up for the second show for the
"Playboy Jazz Festival" on Sunday, June
16, 1991 in Hollywood, California. Bill
Cosby was the Master of Ceremonies. What
a thrill it was to share a dressing room
with John McLaughlin and to stand and
play on the same stage where Jaco and
Jimi Hendrix once performed. I felt that
all my hard work had finally payed off.

"JACO"
Those who know me know that Jaco has
had a LARGE influence on my playing
style. I went to Fort Lauderdale,
Florida, for vacation in December of
1990. When I got there I looked in the
phone book and to my surprise I found
Jaco's mother's phone number. It took
awhile but I finally mustered up enough
courage to give her a call. I told her
that I was there on vacation and asked
her if she would tell me where Jaco's
grave site was. It took about fifteen
minutes for me to convince her that I
was not a "Jaco fanatic" and that I
wasn't going to camp out on her front
porch. (Apparently she's had some
problems with this.) I just wanted to
pay my respects. After some severe
pleading she finally gave in and
provided me with the directions I
needed.

HOBBIES
Archery is one of my favorite
pastimes. I spend almost as much time
with my hobbies as I do playing music. I
shoot a
"Mathews"
MQ1 compound bow
with
"Gold
Tip"
graphite XT
5575 arrows. In archery as in music,
there's nothing like the feeling of
hitting your mark using a quality and
well tuned instrument.

Fishing is another one of my favorite
pastimes. For me it's very relaxing.
This is something that I enjoy doing
alone just as much as I do with a group
of people.
On 5/26/99 my father Norman, my
brother Keith and myself went on a
Canadian fly-in fishing trip. We went to
Waltons KayVee Lodge, located in
Hornepayne, Ontario and fished for three
days on Lake Nagagami. We didn't catch
any of those monster pike, that you
always hear about, or any fish for the
first day and a half, but
we did catch about sixty fish between
the three of us. After dinner, on the
second day of the trip, my father
decided not to go out with my brother
and I. We came back with two full
stringers full of Perch and Walleye. You
should have seen the look on his face.
That look made the whole trip for me. It
was great fun spending quality time with
my Dad and my brother. I love you both!

Archery" photos.
I just started flying radio controlled airplanes. Man is this fun! Nerve racking but fun.
