"Are you kidding? He doens't look a day past twelve."
"Ok...How about that one?"
"And he looks about ANYDAY past 12!" Cambriah giggled as her and her long time good friend, Bridget Robin, sat in the beautiful local park across from the mall in their town. "What happened to all the guy's our age?"
"Their in highschool, good thing we got out when we did," Bridget mentioned as she sipped on a glass of lemonade.
"Yeah," Cam took a long sigh. She ran a hand through her slightly messy hair due to the wind and said, "Do you ever wished we would've stayed?"
Bridget thought for a minute, then answered. "Sometimes. But I mean, look how much further we are now."
"What do you mean?" Cambriah questioned as she slid her sunglasses on.
"I mean, just think. If we woulda stayed we would still be in highschool. We're college chicas now."
"Good point." Cambriah agreed. "Sometimes I wish that I had gone to one closer to home...but at times like this, it's kinda nice to have a decent distance between me and my parents."
"What do you mean 'times like this'?"
"Ah," Cambriah debated on whether or not to get into it. "My mom and me...my mom and my dad...get the picture?"
"No..."
Cambriah rolled her eyes in a cheerful way. "Just forget I said it," She said. "But I mean it's good to finally get out and get some real life expieriance."
"That's true. I mean, I only live a half hour a way. In a way, I kinda half-assed this whole thing." Bridget mentioned as she sipped more of her drink.
"No," Cambriah comforted. "I don't blame you, we're still younge. It's all kinda new to me still even though I've been gone for 6 monthes already."
"Yeah but it's not all hard for you. I mean mike's only a carride away from you."
"Yeah. I gotta admit, that has been a help. I think time away from my parents has been good, but for some reason, coming home...just isn't coming home anymore. I feel like I have no one to come home to," She mentioned.
"Hey!"
"Ok, besides you." She giggled. "But I mean, I don't know what is gonna happen this summer. It's like it's summer! Ya know? but then the thought of coming home home...It just doens't appeal to me." She tried her hardest to explain, but sitll felt Bridget didn't understand.
"I don't understand."
Cambriah laughed to herself at her predictions.
"Are you having trouble with your parents or something?"
"Not problems problems...just, my mom...we just don't understand eachother. And her and my dad, their growing farther apart everytime I'm home. It's just like we don't have a family anymore." Cambriah explained with a sad tone in her voice.
"Aw, Cammy," Bridget said as she tried to comfort her good friend. "It's sure it's just normal. I mean, alot of families go through these types of things, especially parents. Don't worry your pretty lil head over it." Bridget winked.
"Yeah but I don't even think I can handle it this summer. What am I gonna do?"
The two sat in silence for a few brief moments.
"Dude," Bridget said as she looked at Cambriah. "We should move in together.
"Huh?"
"We should move in together! My parents are leasing out our guest house that's RIGHT on the beach...we should just rent it for the summer!"
Cambriah sat in wonderment. "For real?"
"Girl, I'm for real."
"I would love that!" Cam exclaimed. "I mean if we could stand living with eachother for almost four monthes." She happily said.
"Totally," Bridget agreed as she swished around the last of her lemonade and proceeded to chew the end of the straw. "I mean that way, we would only be 20 mintues away from home, that way we could still come home every now and then."
"Yeah. Maybe that's what I need to show my mom I'm actually responsible. And a little more space just maybe might bring us closer toghether. I mean, space has definatly brought us close together, don't ya think?"
"Oh, totally," Bridget agreed as she eyed the park. "But doesn't it seem like we were just playing dolls and swinging in this place?"
"Doens't it? and now it's like, we're off in a total new world. Like before we were pretending to have boyfriends, and now, we're actually looking."
"Speak for yourself," Bridget laughed.
"Just rub it in..."
Bridget shook her head in partiall sympathy shame. "Cam, haven't you found anyone there yet?"
" No I haven't found anyone there yet!" She sarcastically yipped back, giggling.
"Cam, Come ON! I mean, you are going to a pretty big campus, you'd think their would be some pretty big....hot guys there,"
Cambriah smiled at the thought. "Oh there are guys...but their either taken, married, have a parole officer-"
"Or their too short, too tall, not muscular enought..." Bridget commented as she finsished her drink and set it down beside her.
"I'm just looking for the right guy!!" She voiced, although she did debate on weather that really was the reason.
"Cambriah, just admit it. You are a total pickster."
"Am NOT!"
"Oh you SO ARE!!"
"Am not!" Cammy defended herself once again.
"Ok, then your gay?"
Cambraih busted out in laughter. "Gay?" She laughed more. "Whatever," said a still giggling Cam. "Besides, after the last one, you really shouldn't be bugging me."
Not knowing weather Cambriah was being seirouse, Bridget toned it down a bit. "Cambriah Ann, That was along time ago."
She got quiet, and a familiar feeling took over her. "I know it was," She mentioned. "It still hurts," Cambriahs enthusiams some how faded away instantly.
Bridget sat there, not sure of what to say. Cambriah had been in a seriously relationship for a long time--Adam. He seemed like the perfect guy. Perfect looks, perfect charm, perfect, almost everything. That came to a close when a perfect world hit reality, and Adam gave into temptation. Cambriah still wasn't sure of what all occured the night before they broke up, but she knew of one thing, it involved booze, and a girl who Cambriah never got along with--Melissa. Ufortunatly since then, She hasn't had a seriouse relationship since.
"I don't doubt it doesn't." Bridget comforted. "But don't get down on that. That was HIS mistake, not yours."
"I'm not getting down about it, but I can't help but just wanna rip Mel's neck for that. She always ALWAYS hated me." Cam said quietly. "It's like, Adam, he was like the best thing that happened to me, ya know?" She tried to explain. "I mean I don't know whats all up with you and Brian lately..But Like Adam, he wasn't just my boyfriend, he was like...." She trailed off. "My best friend. And it's like a split second, some bitch can just take that away from you."
Bridget looked at the ground, looking for some comforting words to loan her friends. "Ya know what I think about that whole situation?"
"huh?"
"I think God sends people from hell just to piss us off and make life miserable for us, just to see if we can over come it."
Cambriah sat silently. "Do you really believe that?" She asked. "Because the way I see it, God sends people from hell, to piss other people off, make a hellish life for them, and proceed to give the bitches a great life." She said.
"You gotta gain some confidence, chica."
"And you gotta get some cooler words of advice...Or was the the quote of the day from you 'I love Jesus' calendar?" She cracked.
"Fine Cammy! Don't take my advice....my world class advice!"
