There is a product for everyone but you just have to find it. Hopefully your product is available now and not 20 years ago and not 20 years from now. So yes you have to keep experimenting. The hair you have now is not the same hair you had back then. I mean think about this.

Hair grows from the scalp an average of 1/2 inch (1.27 cm) per month or 6 inches (15.24 cm) per year.

When it comes to hair you are what you eat and you are what you do. This means the following can affect it:

Diet
Lack of Vitamins
Too many Vitamins
Stress
Smoking
Hormones
Pregnancy
Poor circulation of blood
Overstimulating the scalp
Pulling too hard
Heat
Cold
Chemicals
Using other harsh products

And those are just the ones I can think of at the moment.

So lets say this month you ate healthy and were not stressed and your hair grew 1/2 inch of nice hair.

Then next month you stress out over something and start eating nothing but junk and you overdose on vitamins and then you end up with a half inch of scraggly thin hair.

Then the third month you start cheering up a bit and start to eat better but the weather changes to colder so another 1/2 inch grows and this time its in fairly good condition but not as good as the first month.

So you end up with hair doing this as it grows out -~-~-~- alternating it's health. Now you may not notice it right away but when some of those bad areas get to be a few inches long then they start to affect your styling. Then you may have some hairs break off at those thin spots. This is why its important to stay healthy and happy. Healthiness is important but Happiness is even more. So stick with my motto which is "No Tangles"
