Can life be sweeter? Can we find ways and rhythms that can change the way we think and do things? Our world is our oyster we are told but we aren’t taught where oysters live or how they are fished leaving us with the goal but no way to achieve it. That is ok because for me that is where imagination and ambition come in. By cultivating our curiosities we can begin that long journey from ignorance to light. This is a journey few have taken for it involves the need to fuel that fire inside that so many of us extinguish before we can even collect social security. My point is life is about positive reflection we must reflect on where we came from to know where we should go. That isn’t some esoteric thing that is me telling you to look at a child and see the wonder and excitement they have and learn from that. Then and only then can you begin to find the spark you’ve been searching for all your life up until this point.
Now that I have said my piece id like to discuss more practical ways you can start to grow in your ideas and future. It starts with self-education. Teachers are important and they are people that should be sought out and those relationships are ones that should be developed. But when you find that thing that makes you tick only you can take it from point A to point B and that requires self-education. Thankfully there are many ways to achieve that goal. A simple google search can reveal thousands of paths to begin your educational journey. MooC’s and turned the educational system on its head. You no longer have to partake in the arduous task of signing up for classes and enrolling in school. You can click a link that will send you to a live classroom where the mysteries of biology or the ancient Far East can be revealed to you. Many universities publish their classes and you could take classes from some of the country’s most renowned educators. That is only one avenue. More at EduMuch
Next we have online tutorials on websites like Lynda.com. These websites are geared toward the average person looking to get into a specific field or topic. For instance a couple of years ago I began my own company and I need to make a website and a logo and all that other creative stuff that comes with opening a company. This meant I had to hire a graphic designer. I realized I didn’t want to hire someone else. I wanted to do everything myself but I had no idea how to use Photoshop. Lynda offered many classes on Photoshop ranging from beginner to professional and I took all of them and ended doing everything myself like i set out to do. This sheds like on what I am talking about. Educating yourself has never been easier and leaves anyone with a little motivation endless roads to start down.
