"Popcorn" Sutton Passes Away
Legendary mountain moonshiner, Marvin "Popcorn" Sutton has died.
The Cocke County Sheriff's Office in Tennessee says it is investigating his death as an apparent suicide.
Back in January, the 62 year old Sutton was sentenced to 18 months in federal prison for violating federal liquor and firearms laws.
During a raid last summer, authorities found stills and hundreds of gallons of moonshine in a storage shed in Haywood County.
He was expected to report to a federal prison in Kentucky soon to begin serving his sentence. Sutton was well known throughout the south for his illegal distilleries. His story was featured in a History Channel Documentary.
