Kyesha


Kyesha A. Lane was born September 12, 1981 to Frank Jackson and Valeza Sheppard in Detroit, MI.  Mrs. Lane experienced the difficulties of growing up in poverty and despite the hardships her family endured, she was able to become a notable community leader and a pilar of her family.  

Throughout her gradeschool years she excelled academically.  During this time in her life her love for the arts and public service radiated throughout everything she engaged in, joining the chorale ensembles, writing competitions, and community revitalizations projects throughout Michigan.  Due to her academic acheivements she was able to become involved with the Youth on the Edge of Greatness program and Cranbrook/Kingswood's Horizons Upward Bound program.  Due to her family's financial hardships she was thrust into a position of leadership being responsible for obtaining employment at 14 years of age and assisting with the care of her two younger brothers, DeAndri and Frank Sheppard. In June of 1999, Mrs. Lane proudly graduated from C.F. Kettering H.S. becoming the first person in her family to graduate from High School.

Her accomplishments didn't stop there.  She soon after began her collegiate career and was offered a position at the Detroit Newspapers Partnership LLC as a Marketing Coordinator where she was able to utilized her varied creative talents.  On September 6, 2002 she was blessed with the birth of her son, Jae'won Chambers.  On May 31, 2006, she was then married to her childhood sweetheart and best friend Demetrius Lane completing her family.  After undergoing a tragic layoff from her employer, Mrs. Lane decided to complete her collegiate career and enrolled at Wayne State University where she received her Bachelor of Arts in political science in December of 2008 and became a radiant lady of Zeta Sigma Chi Multicultural Sorority Inc..  She then obtained a position with Congressman Sander Levin as a community liaison where she was able to assist individuals who had hardships similar to those in which she overcame.  

Currently Mrs. Lane is a graduate student at Wayne State University focusing on Early Childhood Education.  Still very passionate about literacy she is in the process of completing her first book and has published countless poems.
