I'm a 24 year old Broadcast Journalism student at BCIT. Previously, I achieved a four year Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Sociology from Thompson Rivers University.
I moved down to Burnaby for the Broadcasting program in September 2008. I grew up in Kamloops and attended high school and university there while working as a store manager at Wendy's.
I started school in 1989 in Kamloops, B.C. From the time I began school, I enjoyed writing and storytelling, and always aspired to be a journalist. My interest really took flight in grade 11 when I joined my high school's journalism program. This led to being a key member in the production of our 2002 high school year book, in which I designed and produced several page layouts.
I have done some traveling as well, and spent time in Calgary, Edmonton, Regina, Saskatoon, and Winnipeg. I have also traveled through various parts of the United States, as well as Mexico. I'm open to the idea of working abroad following my 2010 graduation from the Broadcasting Program.
Currently, I'm finishing my second semester of Broadcasting at BCIT and preparing for interviews with OBSV and JetSet Sports for employment during the 2010 Olympics. These opportunities will be a good chance to exercise my skills in public relations and communications, which is what I would ultimately like to pursue a career in.
