Built in 1906, The building served as the Brannon Hotel until 1926.

After the doors closed on the hotel, it served a boarding house for teachers at the Cumming School. Clifton Heard moved into the residence in 1945. It transitioned into an antique store until 1983. The building fell into disrepair from 1983 to 2000. The City of Cumming took over the building and renovated it as a historic attraction.
