Guatemala is in Central America, it connects to Mexico, Belize and Honduras. Guatemala is very tropical, in fact 40% of it is rich forests, and 2/3 of it is mountanous. Guatemala is very beautiful. Guatemala is very warm, if you are looking for a cold place for a vacation, then guatemala is not the place. It has an average temperature of 75 degrees farenheit(24 degrees celcuis). Guatemala is just about the size of Tenessee. It is 42,043 square miles(10,889 square kilometers). Guatemala's capital is Guatemala City, but the capital used to be Antigua. The official name for Guatemala is The Republic of Guatemala.
Guatemala lowlands, are between 500 and 700 feet above sea level. And Guatemala's highlands are usaully above 1,000 feet above sea level. So Guatemala is a very pleasent place to take vacation with fresh, easy-to-breath air.
The biggest lake in Guatemala is Lago de Izabel, it is a very big tourist attraction, very beautiful and fun to swim in! The other very popular and well known lake is Quetzaltenango, it is the big lake near the bottum edge of Guatemala. It's a very popular place to go and see the scenery.
Guatemala has many cities and the major cities to go and visit are usaully in the southern part of Guatemala. The major cities include Guatemala City, Quetzaltenango, and Escuintla. Guatemala City is one of the big tourist vacation spot, because you can see the beautiful city capital, and learn about the history of Guatemala. Quetzaltenango is also a very popular place because you can look at the huge lake, Quetzaltenango, and the beautiful scenery.
Although Guatemala sounds very peaceful and beautiful, well it is, but there are some volcanoes. There are lots of volcanoes spread out throughout the country, but very few actually still erupt. Some are very beautiful to look at. Tajamulco Volcano is the highest point in all Guatemala! It is 13845 ft above sea level.
