For my birthday and our four year anniversary Dan asked me what I wanted to do. I had mentioned before that I would like to go back to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, one of my favorite places, since I had not been there since the 11th grade. He too mentioned that he had never been there and would like to go as well. On September 18, 2011 we took the train from Hamilton, New Jersey to New York's Penn Station and then ventured to Battery Park. Our first stop was the Statue of Liberty. We had just finished taking a guided tour when we decided to stop and sit for a few minutes before going to get on the ferry. As we were sitting near the statue we decided we had a great view behind us and that we should take a picture. As we were setting up to take the picture Dan hugged me and told me how much he loved me and was so happy with the way the past four years had been. He told me that he had my birthday present was here in New York and that we just needed to walk around to the other side of the statue to get it. At this moment I was very confused. Dan then bent down to grab his jacket when he reached into his coat pocket, got down on one knee and asked me to marry him!
