6 Myths about Fat Loss

Most men do not seriously care about weight loss. They care for it only when they feel that it is absolutely necessary to do so. Things get going when we men really feel the punch. Then we get ready for action.

In our busy lives we tend to seek the shortest route to losing weight among the hundreds of options that are presented to us. However, many among them are sheer myths and a little care will reveal them one by one:

Myth 1: Starches make us fat – this is not entirely true as breads, potatoes are starch foods yet they are among the fastest burning foods too. Nutritionists say that only a very small percentage of carbohydrates are ever converted to body fat and they recommend that most of our diet be comprised of these.

Myth 2: Drastically cut calories and lose weight – this is the most common myth. When one tends to cut down on calories drastically, the body will go into a conservation mode and the metabolism will slow down. Then, all plans of fat loss will go haywire. So, one just need to cut calories by a little.

Myth 3: One should abstain from favorite foods – it is not that one needs to stay away from one’s favorite foods but should take them in low proportions. Totally abstaining will make one feel miserable rather than actually helping lose weight.

Myth 4: Snacks are a no-no – the right kind of snacks will help one fill up the hunger yet not cause one to gain weight. One should take a snack of fruits and vegetables and see how one loses weight.

Myth 5: Overeating and hunger are related – overeating is related to other factors like emotions and stress and has nothing to do with being very hungry. One must keep oneself busy to stay away from overeating.

Myth 6: Intense exercising is needed for fat burning – almost any form of exercise like house-cleaning, jogging etc can burn fat too.
