A hot tub spa can be enjoyed by everyone, adults and children alike which is why it is a great thing to have at home and a place to spend quality time with the people you love. But then again, we always have to keep safety in mind when we use the hot tub spa because, when used improperly, anything can be dangerous.

A hot tub spa is essentially an electrical appliance. It uses electricity to power it plus it is filled with water. These two elements (electricity and water) when handled improperly can lead to accidents such as electrocution and can be very fatal. The hot tub spa was made with safety in mind so danger of electrocution is relatively rare, but you can never be too careful. We install and provide services for hottubsandportablespas.

To make sure accidents are avoided, see to it that you meet your hot tub's electrical requirements, such as voltage. Some places use the 110v system, some use the 240v. An appliance which requires 240v to operate will not work when plugged into an 110v outlet and an appliance which requires the 110v system will explode or burn when plugged into a 240v outlet. So although most hot tubs are universally compatible, make sure you meet your requirements. Don't forget to check your user manual.

The hot tub spa will most probably be placed outside the home. Install an outdoor outlet for the exclusive use of your hot tub spa so it does not share with other appliances, therefore avoiding power overloading. This outlet should be located at least 10-feet away from your hot tub spa (the farther, the better) so it does not get wet with water. Cover any visible power cables and wires with waterproof casings to keep them from getting wet and tuck them in tidily. You can also place a rug or mat on top of them to keep anyone from tripping on them accidentally.

Do not use any electrical appliances near your hot tub or while in it, such as TV's or radios. If you have to watch some television while relaxing in your hot tub, make sure you’re TV or other electric appliance is placed at a safe distance of at least 10-feet away so as to avoid any untoward incident such as the TV tapping gave and falling into the hot tub which can cause electrocution. Same goes with small electronic gadgets such as mobile phones or music players. They may be too small to cause major damage to you but you may lose all your important data and files if they accidentally fall into the water.

When bathing with children, always keep a close watch over them, never leave them in the hot tub without adult supervision and keep the bathing time to less than 20 minutes and less than 10 for toddlers and infants. Never let them put their heads underwater as their hair might get caught in the drains or jets. Surround your hot tub area with slip-proof rugs or mats to avoid slipping on wet surface. It would be helpful to also install railings or handles around the hot tub and place your tower racks and tables near the hot tub too. Remember to keep your hot tub spa tightly covered at all times when not in use to keep unattended children and pets from falling into the hot tub unnoticed.
