Achilles was the son of the mortal Peleus and the Nereid Thetis.  Achilles was one of the most admired Greeks that fought in the Trojan War.  As a child Achilles was abused by his parents to try to distinguish his immortal power.   Achilles was saved by Peleus the son of Aceacus, King of Aegina.  After he was saved he was later raised by an educated boy named Centaur Chinron,  Achilles began to be facinated by swords and armour during his stay with Odysseus to Troy.

He was tutored by Pheonix and Patroclus that led him to the distinguish himself as an undefeatable warrior.  Achilles caputured 23 towns in the Trojan territory.  He later took the woman Briseis as a prize possession.  Because of Achilles' actions of taking Briseis, the leader of the Greeks forced him to give up his prized possession, and caused Achilles to refuse to fight in any wars.     Achilles agreed to allow his friend Hector to take his place and fight for him which led to his death the following day.  Achilles was very upset and angry that his best friend was killed.  He began again to fight heroically killing several Trojans and other warriors.   The mighty warripr Achilles was shot in the heel with an arrow, which led to his death.  He was awarded the honor of the bravest Greek.
