Profile: Alpha Trion

Allegiance: Autobot

After the Cybertronian slaves were free from their Quintesson masters, each group built their own society. The former worker slaves became known as Autobots and the former gladiator slaves became known as Decepticons, while the Dark Guardians became known simply as Guardians.

Many robots also put away their letter-number Quintesson designations, and chose names for themselves. The rebel leader, A-3 was one such being, and he chose the name Alpha Trion. For millennia upon millenia Alpha Trion lived a peaceful life, studying his homeworld and the universe around it, as well as the physiology of Cybertron's races.

Eventually war erupted between the Autobots and Decepticons, but it was short-lived, quelled by the Guardians. During one battle the Autobots' leader was slain, and the Matrix was secretly passed to Alpha Trion, so Alpha Trion continued his peaceful life, guarding the most precious relic on all of Cybertron, as he awaited the next Prime to come and claim it. 2 million years of freedom from the Quintessons, known as the Golden Age of Cybertron eventually led, though, to the greatest war Cybertron ever saw. Alpha Trion was forced to abandon his peaceful pursuits to study the art of war, if the Autobots were to survive and stay free from the conquest-minded Decepticons. Among the casualties brought in to him after a Decepticon attack was a young Autobot named Orion Pax. Alpha Trion recognized that Orion Pax was the Autobot heir he had long awaited. He rebuilt Orion Pax into a new type of Autobot, designed for warfare, and passed the Matrix to him. The new Autobot became known as Optimus Prime. Alpha Trion also rebuilt Orion's female companion, Arial, into a battle-ready body and named her Elita-1.

The advances Alpha Trion invented saved the Autobot race, but doomed the planet Cybertron to a stalemate between Autobot and Decepticon that would last for another 5 million years; draining all of the planet's energy resources. Optimus Prime and Megatron were lost for 4 million more years, as were the warriors who accompanied their expeditions into space, so Alpha Trion acted acted as impromptu leader of the Autobot resistance efforts, especially protecting the dwindling numbers of Female Autobots, who were near extinction.

Alpha Trion eventually resurfaced when Optimus Prime returned to Cybertron to rescue Elita-1. Again, Alpha Trion saved Elita-1's life and helped the Female Autobots relocate to a new secret headquarters.

By coming out of hiding, though, Alpha Trion put his own life in jeopardy, as Megatron tracked him down and stole the Key to Vector Sigma from him. With that Key, Megatron reactivated the ancient, life-giving supercomputer and created the Stunticons.

Alpha Trion was rescued by the Autobots and rushed to help them stop Megatron from giving the Stunticons life. When they failed, they rebuilt some ancient, disused transport vessels into the Aerialbots, Alpha Trion then sacrificed his own life, by merging with Vector Sigma, so that the Aerialbots could be given life. Since Alpha Trion was a first generation creation of Vector Sigma, he contained an interface that could work in place of the Key, but his consciousness would be added to Vector Sigma's, should he ever use it.

After the Aerialbots were given life, Alpha Trion warned the Autobots, through Vector Sigma, that the Key may have strange and dangerous effects on Earth. The Autobots took the Aerialbots back to Earth and destroyed the Key to Vector Sigma before any permanent damage could be done.

Many times Alpha Trion appeared to the Matrix holders, either directly from Vector Sigma or through its connection to the Matrix. He warned Optimus Prime of the dangers of delving too deep within the Matrix, and also served as an avatar of Vector Sigma when Optimus Prime merged the Matrix with Vector Sigma, seeking answers. Alpha Trion foretold of the coming of the Headmasters and Targetmasters and warned that the Key to the Plasma Energy Chamber should be protected at all costs, for it would usher in a New Golden Age of Cybertron.

Current Status: Deceased; Now Part of Vector Sigma.
