GENE'S WORLD OF STANGS

Let me start by thanking you for taking the time to check out my page. My name is Gene Bowen, I'm from Detroit Mi., not to far from where the legend was born. The legend that I'm speaking of is the Ford Mustang. Ah yes the Ford Mustang, the subject to which my page is dedicated too.

I think my love for the stang started when a cousin of mine ( who will remain nameless ) owned a 1970 Grande. It was was one of the fastest cars I had ever ridden in. When he first got it was stripped, just barely a car. He worked on the car day and night it seemed. For he had a vision, a vision that I nor anyone else in the family could see. Anyway he worked on the car all through out high school and got the car to look and run like crazy. Shortly after finishing school he went into the Marines. The car sat for 4 years, and after returning home he and I went to get the stang out of storage. Armed with a fresh battery and a can of gas, a can of wd-40 and some pliers. We started to prepare the car for the initial start. We thought if we could just get it to turn over good that would be great. After spraying down the carb good, we bumped the key and the car started, it blew out a little dark smoke, and went right to an idle. That was enough for me. I had to have one if not this one. Anyway hard times came and he had to sell the car, but I knew one day I would have one. Well that day came and I've been driving Ford's little pony every since. Below you will find some pictures of my past cars and my present one. I hope you will enjoy them as much as I have.

10*13*12..... Wow its been a very long time since posting her on my page... Not sure how to add video content, but you can see videos on youtube. just look under my username"ll2none". That's 2 lower case L's..

10*19*06..... First I would like to say sorry for the way my page is set up. It would take way to much work to do it over so that the date lines would be in order. Anyway it has been a busy year for me as far as my stang and the page goes. The last time I posted some info, I spoke about how bad the 95 was running. Since then alot has happened. I wound up buying 2 more cars, both convertibles. One was a 89 lx 5.0 that I got from my best friend Houston. The second was a 91 lx 2.3l that I found on the corral(www.corral.net).

Here is how the story goes... Houston brought his car a few years ago. Stock lx, clean. He did a little work on it from time to time. First was the exhaust, then the trans started to slip. He got the trans rebuilt, and added rear gears. He went with a 3.73 and got a new 2800 stall converter all while the car was at the trans shop. Next he got an intake. The intake job turned in to a all out engine rebuild, with a complete trick flow setup. The car sat for a couple years. He wound up with to many cars in the driveway because of death in the family. Anyway he told me he wanted to sale the car. Being that I had done most of the work on the car and for free. He gave me a deal that I couldn't pass on. I got the car for a little of nothing. My plan was to put the engine in my 95 and replace a stock motor into the 89lx. So that's just what I did. The 95 got the fresh 306 out of the 89lx. And I found a stock motor to put back in the 89. I got all that done, the 95 is running better then it ever did. It took a lot of work to get it running right. I had to change all of the fox body stuff to sn-95. I'll go into detail on the motor later. Now with both cars running I started to look at the 89, it was very rusty. Couldn't get the windows working, door hinges were in bad shape. I'll post pics of every thing later on. So here I am with 2 convertibles, one the 95 looking good and running good. The other a 89 running good, but a rust bucket. One night of surfing the web ran into a guy selling a 91 lx body not far from my home. It had no trans and the guy only wanted $500 for it. So I hooked up the trailer and ran down to Ohio and picked up my new body. I pulled the drive train out of the 89 and began to install it into the 91. It's been a lot of work. So far I got the rear end in. With new every thing back there. Currently I am working on running the gas lines. I hope to start on the motor and trans by the weekend.

1*18*06....HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!! I not sure where I want to start. Guess I'll just have to back up to last summer. Didn't drive the stang much because I was always in the Avalanche. I felt the stang was ready for a tune since I hadn't done anything to it since I got the truck. Not even a oil change. So that's what i started out to do. Tune up and oil change. Simple right? Wrong!!! Simple remove and replace everything. Done it a hundred times before. Its a old hat by now. Well went to put all the plugs back in and number 2 cycl. got stripped some how. F#$%. How it happened I can't tell you. The car has been sitting every since. I brought a tool to fix the problem but just can't seem to get the time to fix it.

5*1*04......Well back again, new year and a new look. Here's a couple of shots of my car with the new top and rims. I've had the top in the backyard going on two years, just sitting around taking up space. At first I wasn't going to use it because I wanted to go back with another white top. Anyway I was installing my CDC light bar, when I noticed that the top is held down by 6 bolts(not counting the nuts around the molding). So I said what the hell, the black has to look better than the white top that was on there. So I gave Cortez (a good friend---see his car in my friends car link) a call he came by and in a couple of hours it was in.

As far as the rims go I know they are still 18's but the old rims were pitted and bent. They're not chrome but they look good with a little elbow grease!!!

I know that I have always been a true FORD fan, but I was looking for a new truck. Nothing FORD had caught my eye. So now there's a bow tie in my driveway. I've still got the stang, but the BRONCO went down, and here in Michigan you gotta have a truck for the winter months. So here are some pictures of my newest toy!!!!

I guess this one goes with the old saying..... "Out with the old and In with the new". Here are a couple of pictures of my new wheels. I got sick of the old ones. These are 18's. I look at it as moving on up like George and Weezie. Tell me what you think.

Hey every body thanks for stopping by. I hope that everyone enjoys their stay here in my world. I'm back to talk about my latest upgrade. SEQUENTIAL TAIL LIGHTS. Check out the pictures below. Also I will be selling the units if you are interested. It takes about 1 hour to install. And the price will be about $150. Just e-mail me if you are interested.

Hey check out my new rims. They look just like COBRA R"s but they cost a lot less. I only paid $800 for them, plus $300 credit that i got for my old rims. So for $500 bucks I felt like it was a great deal, because my old rims were faded, pitting, and they had some dings in them. In fact when I first got the old rims I only paid $300 for them, so when you look at it, I got all my money back on the old ones. I was so happy with the deal that I got, i gave the salesman a $25 tip. The only real difference is the width, there only 7 1/2" wide. No big deal. In fact they look pretty damn good with the 275*40*17 size tire.

Hey everybody, take a little advice from a guy that @#$% up. If you put an aftermarket hood on your car, make damn sure you secure it in every way possible. Use hood pins or hood locks. You may even want to use some type of safety strap. If you read my list of mods, you saw that I had a cobra r hood with the svo scoop on it. Well to make a long story short, the hood broke loose from the latch. It took out the windshield, and broke one of the hinges. The hood can be repair, but I don't even want to fool with it any more. Maybe I'll buy another one later on in the summer. Below you can see some pics of what it looked like. I never even got to get the damn thing painted. At least I didn't waist any money there.

Well now that you've seen a few pictures of my current stallion, and have had a chance to check out my modifications. Give me a little input. Any advice you can give me will be greatly appreciated. Whether it be advice on my car or my web page. Just click below to send me an e-mail. If you have any pictures of your own, feel free to send them. I'll be happy to see them.

I HAVE OTHER PICTURES YOU CAN CHECK OUT. JUST GOTO LINKS AREA BELOW AND CLICK ON WHAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE.
