I was walking down the street, when it started to rain. I pulled my hood over my head. I closed my coat tighter and crossed my arms. My face was wet. Mostly because of the rain, but also from tears. I had been crying ever since I ran out of Kevin's apartment.
I knew Kevin had feelings for me. But I didn't think he actually loved me. I wiped my face with my hand, trying to dry it. But it didn't help. Tears were still falling from my eyes.
As I rounded the corner back onto the street where Kevin's apartment was, I saw someone walking behind me out of the corner of my eye. I looked back to see who it was, but couldn't tell because it was too dark. I continued to walk and could tell that someone was still following me.
When I came near a street light, I casually looked back again. This time I could tell who it was. It was Andrew.
I started to walk faster. And I was almost to the apartment building. But I could hear Andrew walking faster.
I didn't know what to do. I couldn't face him, I wouldn't be able to stand up to him this time. I knew he was too strong for me. I was almost to the apartment building, so I decided to run. I just kept running, and didn't look back.
When I reached the door, I scrambled to get out the key. I forced it in the keyhole, and opened the door, rushing in. I quickly closed the door behind me, but it wasn't fast enough. Andrew had moved his arm in the doorway before I got it closed all the way.
He was trying to push his way in but I wasn't strong enough to hold it much longer. So I darted to go up the stairs to Kevin's apartment on the third floor, half-running, half crawling. I reached the second floor, but Andrew grabbed my ankle and pulled me.
I screamed and yelled, "Let go of me." Then I kicked him in the shoulder with my other foot, forcing him to let go of me. While trying to stand up again, I yelled for Kevin.
"Get back here you little bitch," Andrew said grabbing my ankle again, causing me to fall to the floor. I turned over to sit up and started to move away from him. I kept moving away, then my back hit the wall.
"Andrew, stop. There's no reason to do this," I said. "Please don't."
He started coming towards me. Andrew was about to come at me, but Kevin stopped him. He must have heard me call him and he had come down the stairs just in time. Kevin grabbed Andrew by the shirt, turning him around, then punched him in the face. The punch caused Andrew to slam against the wall. Kevin punched him in the face again, this time causing him to fall to the floor.
Andrew's lip and nose were bleeding and he was holding his hand up to his face. Kevin grabbed Andrew by the shirt and was winding up for a punch, but stopped.
"You're not worth it," Kevin said, letting him go. Just then Officers Parker and Lewis came running up the stairs. They rushed over to Andrew, grabbing him and putting handcuffs on him.
I stood up from the floor and ran over to Kevin. He wrapped his arms securely around me and held me so tight. I knew it was right. I knew it was where I belonged.
"Kevin?" I said, looking up at him. "I'm sorry I ran out on you. I just wasn't prepared for what you said. But Kevin..." I hesitated. "I love you too."
A tear slowly fell down my cheek. Kevin put his hand on my face and gently wiped away my tear with his thumb. I put my hand on his while Kevin put his other hand on my waist. My heart was beating so fast and I could feel Kevin's heart beating with the same pace.
Kevin finally leaned his head down to my level and softly kissed me on the lips.
