I felt something hit me in the stomach. I put my hand to where I was hit. It was pitch black and with a flash of lightning I looked at my hand covered with blood. The power came back on with another clap of thunder.
When I looked up, I saw Kevin standing out the doorway looking in the hall, but Andrew was gone.
"Kevin," I said softly, falling to the floor.
"Amanda, oh my God," he said, after turning around. He came over to me, taking off his shirt. "This is gonna hurt, but you just gotta trust me, ok?"
I gently nodded my head. He applied pressure to my stomach with his shirt. I moaned in pain.
"I'm gonna call an ambulance. You hold this on your stomach, ok?" I took hold of the shirt that was in Kevin's hand and continued to hold it on my stomach. "Where's a phone?"
"There's no dial tone," he said coming back to me. "Come on. I'm going to have to drive you there."
Kevin picked me up in his arms. I laid my head on his shoulder and he started walking outside. When we reached the car, I reached to open the door, knowing Kevin wasn't able to. He gently put me in the passenger's seat, and closed the door. He rushed around to the driver's side, quickly getting in. After he started the car, he covered my hand that was holding the shirt and applied the pressure.
When we arrived at the hospital, Kevin picked me up in his arms again and carried me into the emergency room.
"Help! I need some help here," Kevin urged, when he walked in. "She's been shot. Some one help, please!" Two doctors came rushing towards us.
"What's wrong?" one of the doctors asked.
"She was shot. Please just help her!" Kevin repeated.
"Ok, put her down here," the doctor said motioning to the stretcher. Kevin gently put me down on the stretcher.
"Kevin, don't leave me," I softly said, with the little energy I had left.
"I won't," he returned. "I promise." He looked into my eyes making it final.
The doctors pushed the stretcher into a room.
"Sir, I'm sorry, but you have to wait out here," the doctor said to Kevin stopping him from coming into the room.
"But I can't leave her," Kevin said. "I promised."
"I'm sorry, but you'll just have to wait out here."
"No, I need to stay with her."
"Please, sir." The doctor pushed Kevin back and closed the door.
The first doctor put an oxygen mask on my face, while the other cut off my shirt to get to the wound easier. I couldn't feel anything but pain. Everything they did felt the same. I couldn't understand what they were saying, all I could hear was the constant beeping of the heart monitor.
