It was Friday night, and my parents went out of town for the weekend. So I had the house to myself. I had invited my best friend, Brian, over to watch a movie. I was in the kitchen making the popcorn, when I heard the doorbell ring.
"Come in," I yelled. I heard the front door open. Then a few seconds later, I heard it close again. In walked Brian. Following him was his cousin, Kevin.
"Hey Amanda," said Brian.
"Hey Brian," I responded as I turned around. "Hey Kev, I didn't know you were visiting."
"Yep," Kevin said.
"Yeah, he had nothing else to do. So I told him he could come along. That's ok, right?" Brian asked.
"Yeah, of course. Why wouldn't it be?"
"I dunno."
"What, are we hiding something now, Brian?" I said teasing him.
Kevin laughed.
"Nope, I'm not hiding anything," Brian responded.
"Ok then. Guess what, guys?"
"What?" Brian and Kevin said at the same time.
"There's a new guy at work. He's really sweet. He's got this great smile. And he's much better looking then either of you guys," I said with a laugh.
"Oh, yeah?" Brian responded.
"Yeah."
"What's his name?" Brian asked.
"Andrew."
"How long has he been working there?" Kevin asked as well.
"About a week. What is this, some sort of an interrogation?" I asked with sarcasm.
"Nope, we're just watching out for you," Kevin said.
"Well, I don't need watching out for. I just thought you guys would be happy for me," I said with my pouting face.
"Aww, we're only kiddin'. Don't be sad," Brian said.
"Ok," I said, smiling again.
"Hey! You tricked us," Kevin said.
"Yeah, I know I did. Let's go watch the movie," I suggested as I grabbed the bowl of popcorn. We walked downstairs to the basement. I put the movie into the VCR. Then went over to sit down on the couch between Brian and Kevin. I was very close to Brian and Kevin. There were like my best friends and were always there for me when I needed them.
"So what are we watching?" asked Kevin.
"Oscar," I responded.
"Goody," Brian said sarcastically.
"I thought this was your favorite movie," I said shocked.
Brian just responded with a laugh.
"Fine then. You can just leave while I watch it with Kevin," I said sarcastically.
"Hey, don't get me involved in this," Kevin said with a laugh.
"Sshhh, it's starting. This part is very important," I said.
Brian, Kevin, and I sat there and watched the movie. We laughed our heads off as we always do. Next thing I knew, I was asleep on Kevin's shoulder.
Suddenly, I felt Brian get up off the couch. I still kept my eyes close, so they would think I was still asleep.
"Aww, she's sleeping. We can't wake her up," I heard Kevin say.
"I think she's faking it," Brian said.
"No she's not."
"How do you know?"
"'Cause she's drooling all over my shirt."
"I do not drool!" I exclaimed as I sat up.
"Oh, so you are awake," Brian said. Kevin just laughed.
"Yeah, I'm awake. Is the movie over already?" I asked with a yawn.
"Yep," Kevin responded.
"Aw. I missed most of it. Oh well, I know what happens anyways," I said.
"Well, I think we should be going. Since Amanda's so tired anyways," Brian suggested.
"You guys don't have to go. What time is it anyways?"
"Almost midnight," Kevin answered as he looked at his watch.
"Oh really. I didn't realize it was so late. Maybe you guys should go. I gotta go to work tomorrow," I said as I stood up. We walked up the stairs, and I walked them to the front door.
"Ok."
"Don't forget to lock the doors, Amanda," Kevin said.
"I won't. Night." I watched them walk down the path and reach the sidewalk. Once they were out of my sight, I closed the door and locked it. I turned off the lights and went upstairs to go to bed.
