Watch out, it´s a Goth!
As with most bands first albums these days it didn´t really come up to the standard that the EPs had set, but some of the songs were really good. The second album Cuckoo was praised in the music papers, but I never really got into it that much. Soon after they split, basically cos of the personal differences between Toni and Dean Garcia.
They teamed up again two years ago and released another album, but it seems they´ve lost it a bit now, the melodies which made their first releases so essential seem to be gone, they´re pretty close to an industrial sound (eurgh!) now. Shame.
Lovely Toni Halliday, probably the only Shoegazing sex symbol (well, along with Rachel Goswell anyway). She just looked dead cool. And Curve made the music to go along with the look. Dark and intense the first EP Blindfold featured 10 Little Girls which had rapper JC001 on it, a pretty unusual thing back then. They followed it with the Frozen and Cherry EPs which were brilliant as well. Then came Fait Accompli and just when you thought they´d never get round to releasing an album, Doppelgänger came out (in the same week as Ride´s Going Blank Again actually).
