After my Graduations I
worked in Irrigation Administration in Hydraulics Research
Institute, in Delta Barrage - Egypt. In one of the most
Researching lab that’s (NBCBN-RE,
Nile
Basin Capacity Building Network –River Engineering) which is
supervised by Netherlands in Delft City (IHE).
(NBCBN-RE) contains 10
Nile Country including Egypt.
*That’s hard to make a general retrieving system to put you files,
links, data bases, media files, applications. But In this project,
we put the main principals and controllers to make standard retrieving
System to be considered in the next project or studies we have, so
that we worked hard to finish this work quickly and to be easy to use.
This
project considered about Rehabilitation of Assuit Barrage and
establishing power plant (electric station) and relationship between
the power plant and the river upstream, downstream from Assuit
barrage.
So that we divide the study into 2 ways
1.
Al Walydia power plant. (water electric station)
2.
Rehabilitation of Assuit Barrage.
There were 7 studies (7
years) each year has its own files contains excel files (xls), word
files (doc), AutoCAD files (dxf, dwg), and Cross Sections (dwg) Surfer
files (dat, grd) .and GPS (X, Y, Z) & Assuit base map (1:50,000) (main
map)
As any project we must
first define the coordinate system and projections to be actual with
other studies maps the no different between theme.
We linked all of these
files to Arc View software and visual basic to access the data
directly from the retrieving system and we make a big data base (MS
Access) showing the files types, location on (HDD).
For this project we put
our focused on 2 different Analysis they are Spatial Analysis
to define the studies area and show the density, and Surface
Analysis to Describe the relationship between the studies and
calculate the area ,cut & fill, 3D view to the selected
area , locate the out level areas , create contours, make grid,
steepest points, make cross sections etc.
The programming
language was Avenue that’s we linked all kind of files and views,
tables, dialog boxes, charts …etc

To plot the design data for canals and navigation
channels and calculate cut and fill to determine the dredging volumes
required to maintain the design
