Equipment
should be suitable for the activity and the environment in which it is to be
used and generally conform to current accepted standards.
The
equipment must be capable of resisting the worst weather anticipated since, in
the event of a serious deterioration in conditions, safety may well depend on it
being able to withstand the prevailing conditions.
The
group must carry all equipment and food to be used during the venture.
All individuals must always carry the personal emergency equipment lists.

Non-essential equipment
It is up to you whether you bring hats and gloves but especially in the
winter months and at evening it can get very cold so having hats and
gloves are a recommended piece of kit.

Essential equipment
Compass, maps and whistles are essential pieces of kit. You will be
told how to use a compass and should carry one at all times. It is used to
help you take bearings of where you are if you get lost and is used to
help you follow your route. A map is very essential as you need it to find
you way around your route. A whistle is used if you get lost and can not
find your way. You whistle twice and wait for a response. If no response
try again.

Essential equipment
A first Aid kit is the most essential piece of kit. It should meet the
requirements and have everything you need in it. A flare is a good
idea to carry but is usually used for mountain walkers who walk up into
the mountains. If you get lost or need emergency help you light the flare
and hope someone sees its. Although you probably wont need a flare for the
expeditions it is a good idea to carry one just in case.

Essential equipment
It is best to carry water purifier tablets as you never know when you
might run out of water and need to drink from a stream, river etc. All you
have to do is drop the tablets in the water and wait for it to dissolve.
Always read the instructions as many products vary.
