Why Choose the Marines?
This is a question I'm sure many young girls will have when making the decision on what branch of the military to enlist in. Everyone has different things that they wish to gain while in the military. These can be anything from pride and self-confidence, to being able to travel and see the world, to getting educational benefits. All of these things can be gained by enlisting in the Marines.
Regardless of what you've been told, all of the military branches offer the same benfits. They all offer an identical salary, health coverage, and tution assistance. When I was deciding which branch to enlist in, I visted the Airforce recruiter (which is rumored to have the best educational benefits) and was told the same thing the Marines told me. It's all the SAME.
So now you're probably thinking "Well if the benefits are all the same, then it doesn't really matter which branch I enlist in." Wrong. While they offer identical benefits, each branch has it's own traditions and their own specfic role when it comes to serving and defending our country. The Marines are known as being the branch that is the "first to fight." During wartime, they are usually the ones up in the front lines. However, this is not something you should constantly worry about should you enlist, especially since you're a woman (for the sake of this website I'm assuming you are) as women are never sent to the front lines. (Although you may be sent close to it.) But should you choose the Marines as your branch of choice, you should always be ready to serve your country if called upon to do so.
You'll also have a variety of job occupations or MOSs to choose from. In fact, the only occupational fields that women Marines cannot enter into is infantry, artillery, armor and air crew. (For obvious reasons)
To put it quite frankly, there's something special about the Marines. Something that no other branch has to offer because once you become a Marine you are part of a life long family. Yes, the Marines is without a doubt, the toughest branch, but if you give it your all and earn the coveted title of United States Marine, you will know that you've really accomplished something few people have and have earned a place among the elite.
So after having read all of this, are you up to the challenge? If the answer is yes and you haven't done so already, then I advise you to seek out a Marine Corps recruiter in your area and check out the rest of this website.
