Taylor and Andrea Bocelli in the Hollywood Bowl Concert
Excerpt from News Week May 10, 1999:
Even
Elizabeth Taylor isn’t immune. At the Hollywood Bowl
two weeks ago, she walked onstage during an encore to
pay homage. Bocelli invited the actress to stay and
launched into song, the Prayer."My heart was in my mouth. I
could
hardly breathe," she says. "Afterwards, I walked off in
a
trance, hoping I wouldn’t bang into a violinist."
Backstage,
Taylor hid in a corner where she could catch a glimpse of
the tenor as he left. "I just wanted to see him for the last
time, getting into his car. I still haven’t come down from
that high."
A fan's description (Mary Striley) of that night:
. . . . . .Elizabeth Taylor came out on stage with him, for one of the encores, and Andrea introduced her,"Ladies and Gentlemen, Elizabeth Taylor" and then she said "Don't worry, I'm not going to sing." And then she just stood there. It looked like they tried to get her to leave the stage, but I don't think anyone can make Elizabeth Taylor do anything she doesn't want to!!! She just stood there while he sang "The Prayer" and when he was done, she walked off the stage.

Artist's Critique:
I was not at
that particular concert. I just heard about it through other
fans. I probably got her clothing all wrong and her
hairstyle....but there were not very many photos of that occasion
as of yet. I imagined and I hope I captured at least the
expressions on their faces. Elizabeth Taylor is a fan for our
Andrea and therefore has gained my respect and admiration all
over again!!! And dear Andrea, I drew you smileing at your
greatest fan (Elizabeth Taylor) and she is smileing back at you
with admiration. You are both under lights of blue and purple.
