Gerry Laffy was born on the 4th of January, 1960 in Hoxton, East London. He moved almost immediately to Swiss Cottage where he attended Catholic schools until he was 15. He then worked as a T boy in a commercial art company until he got a job as a graphic artist at London Weekend Television in 1976. At LWT he bought his first guitar, a 1958 Gibson Les Paul Jnr.

In 1978 Gerry and Phillip Lewis (LA Guns) formed Girl, a very glam heavy rock band. They were joined by Phil Collen (Def Leppard), Pete Barnacle (Ygnwie Malmsteen) and Gerry's brother Simon Laffy (Wild Frontiers). Top 30 in the UK, gold albums in the Far East, creators of Precious Metal, the band got a lot of grief for being "glam" and mixing hard rock with make-up and outrageous clothing. Girl are now cited as influencing the mega bands of the last decade and a half. The above members have since sold countless millions of records around the globe. After the Sheer Greed and Wasted Youth albums, the band parted ways due to record company and management chaos.

In December of 1982 Gerry took up an offer to manage video wiz Russell Mulcahey. He formed LeBad films in Australia with Mulcahey and proceeded to steer him through to 1997 and nine movies, award winning videos and TV commercials (as well as performing a multitude of additional chores ranging from video producing and script writing, movie 'directors P.A.' to associate producer and supplying music on movies).

etc.

Never turning his back on rock 'n' roll, in 1985 and 1988 Gerry recorded two albums and toured Europe and Japan with the London Cowboys, along with ex-members of The Sex Pistols, The Idols and The New York Dolls. Then in London in 1989, while continuing his partnership with Mulcahey, Gerry wrote and produced Money and the Magic, his first solo album. He released it in 1990 on his own independent label, Die Laughing Records, in the UK and had an all formats release in Europe in January of 1991. The song Shoot 'Em Down is included on the Highlander II movie soundtrack (remixed by Steve Levine).
