Chapter 17
“Angela are you alright?” Matt asked softly touching her shoulder.
She looked confused for a moment and almost scared. “What?” She asked shaking as she looked at Matt with tears in her eyes.
Matt stared at her concerned. “Angela what’s wrong?” Matt asked as Angela moved away from him and turned towards the door.
“Nothing Matt, I’m sorry, I shouldn’t be here...” Angela said as she rushed to the door.
Matt stood there for a moment trying to think of something that he could say or do. “Angela tell me please, what’s wrong? Why shouldn’t you be here, what are you talking about?” Matt asked staring at her as he followed her to the door.
She stopped and took a few deep breaths as tears ran down her cheeks. “I just can’t be here, not now. I’m sorry Matt. I’m probably really confusing you, and I apologize completely, but I shouldn’t be here, not with you, I can’t... I’m just so lost. I’m sorry, I better go...” Angela said as she turned and met his eyes. Matt didn’t know what to say, he felt like he wanted to cry, what on earth was she talking about!?
Matt shrugged shaking his head, “But why, Angela what are you talking about?” Matt asked watching her tears, he wanted to pull her in his arms and kiss those tears away, what had happened?
“Matt just don’t ask me why please, this is so hard, I just, I should go...” Angela said pushing her bangs away from her wet eyes. She stared at him, this time Matt saw no sparkle in her beautiful eyes- just pain.
He didn’t know what to do, or say, or how to act, all he could do was shrug.
“I’m sorry, Matt.” Angela said crying as she turned and without looking back she was gone.
Matt stood in the hallway not thinking about anything.
