Station 80 - Marrero-Harvey VFC

Marrero-Harvey volunteer fire company covers an area from the West Bank Expressway, northward to the Mississippi River, from the Harvey Canal to Ames Blvd. Neighboring fire companies include Harvey, Marrero-Regusa, and Marrero-Estelle. Area of responsibility ranges from residentual property, small businesses, and oil refining/storage facilities. Large volumns of chemicals move through the area via barge, ship and rail cars.

This 6 wheel drive monster truck carries 3000 gallons of water and 300 gallons of foam. Truck 809 was built back in 1980 by Fire "X" out of California, but is still on duty at Station 80 in Marrero, LA located on the New Orleans West Bank. Primary mission for this vehicle is to deliver water to remote locations and foam in the event of a fire at one of the several oil field and chemical businesses in the area. Although this picture was taken back on Jan 30, 1987, the unit is still in service today.

When I took this picture of the 1999 Quality/Spartan/AI 100' ladder was not even commissioned to the volunteer fire company yet. There were problems with the AI ladder and has been replaced with an LTI ladder.

The "new" L-807 is seen here in this recent shot. The AI ladder has been replaced with a 100' LTI ladder. Only change physically is the recess for the newer ladder and some rear cabinet work. The ladder is in service and working fine.

The same day I shot L-807 I shot squad, S-819. S-819 is assigned to Station 81 in Marrero, LA. This is the first squad that I have seen with a boom winch on the body, great idea.
