King had a year in reining training with Jerry Hornberger of
Munfordville, Kentucky. Jerry also trained Neil in the art of reining.
King loves to work and perform and is currently being ridden with only a
halter during some of his riding sessions. To date, King has shown natural
ability in reining, cutting, ranch riding and barrels. He has a winning
disposition and regal presence that certainly get him noticed. We trust
that his ability, style and ever-willing attitude will be passed on to his
foals. To meet him is to love him. He's certainly a one of a kind horse.
King made his show debut in June 2001 with the World Foundation Quarter
Horse Alliance (WFQHA). He placed second in reining and third in
conformation. King was not shown as planned in 2002 due to personal time
constraints and Neil's new training schedule. He will be shown more
extensively in 2003.
Kings sire, King of Four Mac earned 124 AQHA performance points
including several superiors and a ROM in reining. He has also produced
several high point earners. Continental King was the first horse inducted
into the NRHA Hall of Fame in 1988. His great grandsire is the immortal
King P234. King's dam, Cow Pasture was trained by the famed Matlock Rose,
has earned performance points with FQHR and was sold as a four year old in
1995 for $9000.00. King's pedigree includes many great notables such as
Royal King, Poco Bueno, Two Eyed Jack, Beaver Creek, Skipper W, too many
to mention. Take a look at his extended pedigree. We hope to have photos
of King of Four Mac, Cow Pasture and other ancestors available soon.
