Our Baby Gerbils

Welcome to our baby gerbil webpage. There are nine tiny baby gerbils, born Nov. 13th, 2000. This is the mothers last group of babies. When you're finished viewing our welcome page, you can visit our links at the bottom of the page. This webpage is developed and written by sixth grade students. If you may, please e-mail us at myclass@angelfire.com with hints, questions, comments, or if you see errors. There will be pictures and summaries about the baby gerbils throughout the upcoming 6 weeks. Thank you for visiting our webpage, please come again.

This is the babies on their first day! Below that is the cage we keep them in.

Day One Observations:The new babies were born early morning on November 13,2000. They are diminutive translucent and bright pink in color. Their skin is so thin you can see where the heart is beating, outline of bones and organs through the skin. They look different from the last group of babies. These are smaller, more transparent and seem to have larger black eyelids.

Day Two Observations: Today we looked at their eyes and five have black eyes, but one gerbil's eyes are a little lighter than the other's, so we suspect it may be mixed. The rest have pink eyes, so they probably are gray. We have a runt that is three and a half centimeters long and rolls all over. The biggest one is about four centimeters. We can still see traces of the infant gerbil's oragans developing.
