Jayne Lewis

Ms. Lewis was s member of the original cast in the Welcome Wood production of The Unhinging of Wings, a theatre experience based on Margot Buttons poetic documentation of her struggle with her son's affliction with schizophrenia and his eventual suicide. She was also "the lady that's known as Lou" in Jim Betts' The Shooting of Dan McGrew. Ms. Lewis has always defied narrow definition. Her remarkable vocal quality has enabled her to transcend the demands of musical revue, classical opera, and solo concert performance. She was a 1996 Dora nominee for moving portrayal of Dr. Charlotte in the toronto production of Falsettos. She created the role of Madame Giry, the ballet mistress, in Livent's Canadian National Touring production of The Phantom of the Opera, and recreated her powerful interpretation with the flagship Toronto company. Other credits include Farrah Delamitri in Popcorn, Kate in the Stratford festival production of Kiss Me Kate opposite her husband Victor Young, Charity Barnum in Barnum, The title role in Evita, and the spirited Sheila Walsh in the original production of A gift to last. She was Sally Grant opposite Keir Dullea in The Servant, and creates the role of Monica in norm fosters Sinners. Ms. Lewis has been an invited guest artist with the Regia Symphony Orchestra, and the featured soloist in Leonard Bernstein's Kaddish symphony for the Bach elgar Choir and the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra. She has also appeared with the Windsor Symphony, Orchestra London, and Symphony Nova Scotia, while on tour with Tapestry music theater's production of Gershwin and Gershwin. Ms Lewis was featured performer in the National Tour of Blue Champagne and appeared as Susan in the National Arts Centre/canadian Stage Production of Company.Her comedic talents won her rave Reviews for Tom Foolery and also for her startling depiction of Nancy Reagan in Rap Master Ronnie.
