About Me: 50 yrs. young,

My daughter Sara and her husband Scott had
my first grandchild in June of 2008, a boy! Conner Mason Smith. He is such a cutie. I am so happy and excited!

I am a full time writer and have had quite a few
books published so far in BOTH e-book and paperback formats. One of the books, Flight of the Raven,
came from ideas my eleven-year-old niece Amanda had. Since she didn't know how to put them into book form,
she asked me and we came up with the young adult novel.
We acquired an agent who seems extremely excited about representing the book, so we have high hopes for it.
Keep an eye out for us in bookstores, Mickey Stroda and Amanda Rhodes. I am currently in the process of writing the next in a
series about a female vampire, and have quite a few more in the works.

WELCOME ALL!!! I'm getting better at HTML, but I do hope you will be patient with me. I hope to have more to offer in the near future. Please come back often to view the changes as I will soon be adding more of the many poems I've written (as well as poems by others) and sections from my latest novels and short stories. You'll be glad you did. (I hope.) Some of my favorite horror writers are Stephen King, Anne Rice, Christopher Pike, Dean Koontz and R.L. Stine. Other authors I like reading are Emily Dickinson, Poe, John Grisham. I have a wide variety of reading tastes. I'm looking for info on my ancestors (as well as living relatives); Names: Coiner, Kainer, Bell, Eversoll, Stroda and Vinduska. Maybe we can help each other. Page two of my site has the synopsis and critique of Bailey's Pond as well as the cover art for the book. Page three has the first chapter of Bailey's Pond. Page four has the first chapter of Blood Ties ~ The Beginning and Page five has the first chapter of Flight of the Raven. I hope you enjoy the excerpts. The books are in the process now of becoming paperbacks. So far, the only two I have available in paperback are Bailey's Pond and Blood Ties ~ The Beginning, but the others are on their way. Recently, I acquired an agent to represent me in my quest for an offline publisher. Wish me luck!

Wildfire Woman

The intensity of a blaze raging out of control, A passionate fury can be glimpsed in the glow; Wild desire running high, drifting into fantasy, Emotionally consumed by the ecstasy.

Reality melting down around me, Replaced by the pleasure heard in my sighs; Love is told by my bodys gyrating stir, As the flame brightly flares in my eyes.

I'm looking for my other self, The one I haven't found; The self who never feels the pain, When the world turns upside down. Where is she? I very seldom catch a glimpse, Of the self I know is there; I know she's in there waiting, For me, my life to share. Can she see me? Part of my soul she'll always be, Not someone who isn't me; I've always known that we were one, That someday she would be set free. Does she know me? If I could build a secret place, Within that place she'd be; We'll co-exist for all of time, My other self and me.

Time goes on, through pain and fear; hate growing with each tick of the clock. War, assassins, terrorism; death; nothing halts the passage of time. WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, The Gulf; just to name a few of the wars our century has seen. Kennedy, King, Kennedy, Lennon; great men cut down in a short space of time by assassins bullets, Others barely escaping with their lives. The World Trade Center, Oklahoma City, too many terroristic attacks in foreign countries to count. Yet, through it all, time goes on. Pausing for nothing, stopping for no-one, time goes on.

Mengele, Manson, Dahmer, Menendez; a few of the horrendous killers of our time. Colorado, Mississippi, Oregon, Tennessee, too many others to count; so many children killing children in our schools; The list of deaths endless, the reasons obscure.

What can we do to end the pain, it hurts to think or feel; assaulting our minds with endless voices, putting pain inside our hearts and souls. Quiet sleep would be a welcome friend, greeted with open arms. Yet the intrusion of pain, in our days and nights, makes sleep as elusive as love. Sleep is elusive, frightful as well, the pain follows us into the night; crying does nothing but make us feel weak, So we cry silent tears in our hearts.

Summer has passed, gone with the wind, Time has now come for the fall; Feel the chill in the air, the dew on the grass, See the leaves falling down from the sky. Returning October, the leaves all aflame, Earth's blanket a rainbow of fire; This picture forever ingrained in our minds, With memories of picnic and sun. Witches and pumpkins, goblins and ghouls, Our breath we can see in the air; These tell us it's autumn, summer is gone, October returning with joy.

BITTERSWEET WISDOM
Death, in its unhurried wisdom ends all doubt and sorrow. It is a lasting remedy for all illness, insecurity and loneliness. The finality of it ends all pain, with a sweetness not otherwise known. It's sweetness is known only by those, who, in their passing, have smelled its fragrance. The pain of those left behind has a fragrance all its own, a bittersweet emanation that assails the senses with its pungency. The strength of the void, left by the passing of one loved seems endless. Time and faith, working in unison, will lessen the strength and fill the void.

She was a Phantom of delight When first she gleamed upon my sight; A lovely Apparition, sent To be a moment's ornament; Her eyes as stars of Twilight fair; Like Twilight's, too, her dusky hair; But all things else about her drawn From May-time and the cheerful dawn; A dancing Shape, an Image gay, To haunt, to startle, and way-lay.

I saw her upon nearer view, A Spirit, yet a Woman too! Her household motions light and free, And steps of virgin-liberty; Sweet records, promises as sweet; A Creature not too bright or good For human nature's daily food; For transient sorrows, simple wiles, Praise, blame, love, kisses, tears, and smiles.

And now I see with eye serene The very pulse of the machine; A Being breathing thoughtful breath, A Traveller between life and death; The reason firm, the temperate will, Endurance, foresight, strength, and skill; A perfect Woman, nobly planned, To warn, to comfort, and command; And yet a Spirit still, and bright With something of angelic light.
