Well, to
tell you the fact, I love receiving mails...and especially if they are
made up of ink and paper. Surprised !!!You may think that I am
saying this with an emphasis as if my life depends upon letters!
In some way it does. If I
don't write I feel 'tongue tied', and lose my sense of direction and half
the people I care about. It is letters that I keep the record of my own
years as others might keep theirs in journals. I see it like this because
it is where I confide, clown, gossip, celebrate, explore and think. I need
and look forward to and save letters from friends far and near. But it is
of course the age of e-mails, hi-tech voice-mails, and the art of letter
writing is quite dead.
some of my dear friends, find it so
difficult to write -- they simply express that they are 'unable' to that !
I suspect people have stopped writing
letters partly because they do not want to take the time. And letters take
time. and energy too. Real letters can't be written when one feels
pressed, struggling upon the chair's edge instead of sitting the way back
... they are, I think, gifts.
Added to this, I suspect that people
are 'unable' to write partly because they do not feel comfortable.
But they should know that 'they are needed to write to someone'. The best
letters may be only a few lines, or a few words on a peace of paper or a
postcard -- but the right words!
So, when you write next time, have
the understanding in heart that everyone loves to receive words and waits
at the other end of the paper while those sweet feelings are taking their
shapes with the ink marks at this end. And those heartfelt words can bring
someone a few smiles...especially in the hours of blues.
waiting for your words.
