June 16, 2002 - We drove to Teisko were Paula's parents live. When I lived with them it was there summer cabin, now they have totally redone it and it is the most beautiful house. We had a wonderful time there surrounded by nature and the lakes. I really enjoyed seeing her parents. We went out on the lake every day and Paula taught me how to row. I was almost getting good at it by the time we left. It isn't as easy as the rowing machines at the gym, you actually have to know how to move the boat! We went out with Jorma to collect his fish nets. He was so happy, he said it was the best catch of the year. He said I brought good luck! We took the fish back and he smoked them for dinner, it was sooo yummy., Paula Barbequed Elk fillets and potatoes. Marita, Joakim and Santu came over. We had a wonderful dinner and then sauna. We even jumped in the lake. (Well, ok, they jumped in the lake, I just dipped in it really fast.) Paula and I took a really long walk through the country where no matter what direction you looked it was like being in a postcard. We got chased by bees, scared us to death. I have no idea what they wanted, but they sure chased us a long way!
