比起約 45 分鐘的 It'll End In Tears，75 分鐘的 Filigree & Shadow 是 4AD 對唯美音樂更深入的探索。

Filigree & Shadow was about 75mins length, with the last time, It'll End In Tears 45mins length. FIligree & Shadow accutally got a deeper view to the aesthetic 4AD world.

這次動人的翻唱作品有 Judy Collins 的 My Father，Van Morrison 的 Come Here My Love 和 Tim Buckly 的 I Must Have Been Blind。無可非議，Come Here My Love 是最精彩的，而 I Must Been Blind 卻太乾寡。

The covers were played was Judy Collins' My Father, Van Morrison's Come Here My Love and Tim Buckly's I Must Have Been Blind. The best was Van Morrison's one while the worest was Tim Buckly;s one, This Mortal Coil was too clean for it, its wild image was totally lost.

Alone 和 Drugs 兩首較為特別，和自己印象中 4AD 的典型聲音有一段距離。Alone 的前奏是大碟的開場曲再現，引入的是陌生的 gothic guitar riff。Drugs 則配以非人性的 industrial guitar riff。

There were two specail pieces, Alone and Drugs which weren't 4AD sounds. Alone began with strings as a reprise of Velvet Belly and later came as gothic guitar riff, Drugs came with industrial guitar riff.

就大碟的長度而言，Ivo Watts 是想使 Filigree & Shadow 比 It'll End In Tears 來得更具概念性。加入另外更多不同的元素，去呈現大碟的明暗、強、弱對比，但最後卻予人不完整之感。無論如何， Filigree & Shadow 是一張需要時間與心靈去欣賞的深邃之作。

You could see that Ivo Watts wanted to make Filigree & Shadow became more conceptual, different elements in the album showed an opposite image. But the outcome just didn't sounded incompletely. Anywayz, Filigree & Shadow is needed time and mind to listen and feel, you could surely step into the more aesthetic and darker spirital state.
