Welcome! This is the official S-O-S web site at Save187.com. We appreciate your interest because we need your help! The Bush Administration has just announced an amnesty for 12 million illegal aliens already in this country and is opening the door to millions more. Our petition, which is downloadable from this site, will give the voters of California a chance to tell the President that we don’t want an amnesty! Our initiative will force the State of California to assist in the enforcement of immigration laws and will prevent public agencies from aiding and abetting illegal immigration, as they currently do. The will of the people, as expressed in their vote for Prop 187, will finally be respected.

HOW YOU CAN HELP: The petition contains the full text of our proposed initiative. Please download a copy of it and ask a few friends or relatives to sign it. Better yet, make a few extra copies and ask them to get signatures themselves. We need all the help we can get to qualify this initiative for the ballot, and that includes money. Your contribution will help us to send these petitions to people who aren’t on line, and also to people who don’t know about our campaign. Thanks again for your interest and your help!

PROP 187: Passed by nearly 60% of the voters, the popular measure to discourage illegal immigration was settled “out of court” by former Governor Gray Davis in a secret deal with the ACLU. The politicians out maneuvered the people.

SB 60: A law that gave driver’s licenses to illegal aliens was repealed by the Legislature after an angry public collected over 500,000 signatures to qualify a referendum for the March primary. The politicians didn’t want that issue on the ballot, so the measure was repealed. But the people were out maneuvered again. The same law will be re-introduced shortly.

MODERATE APPROACH: A new initiative is collecting signatures to qualify for the November ballot, it will prevent illegal aliens from getting welfare in California. If it qualifies for the ballot it will likely pass by an even larger margin than Prop 187. It will require the state to comply with Federal immigration laws and to follow Federal immigration polices designed to discourage illegal immigration. Its qualification for the ballot will also begin a national dialogue on immigration and force the politicians to respond to the problem on our borders. Requiring California’s public agencies to obey the laws already on the books is a very moderate approach to a very serious problem, but it’s a good first step!

BUSH AMNESTY: Rewarding illegal aliens with permanent residency and eventual citizenship will repeat the tragedy of the last amnesty in 1986; it will encourage more illegal immigration. The American people have had enough of that! The will of the people should be respected. The qualification of our initiative for the November ballot will make the politicians stop and consider the damage that an amnesty will do, not just to the country, but to their re-election campaigns. The people will not be out maneuvered again!

PROPOSED INITIATIVE

The People of California find that they have suffered and are suffering form economic hardships caused by the presence of illegal aliens in their State, and that illegal immigration is encouraged by public agencies within the State that provide public benefits without verifying immigration status. The People find further that illegal aliens have been given a safe haven in California with the aid of identification cards, including driver’s licenses, that are issued without verifying immigration status. The people are frustrated by the conduct of their State that contradicts Federal immigration policy, undermines the security of our borders, and demeans the value of American citizenship. Therefore, the People of California declare that the public interest of the State requires all public agencies within the State to cooperate with Federal immigration authorities to discourage illegal immigration.
