Welcome to Aaliyah4eternity

Aaliyah and her big brother Rashad /.\

This page has been long in the making since the tragic death of Aaliyah on Aug. 25, 2001. There are many images here of our Angel from when she was younger to some photos taken just weeks before her passing. First, I would like to express my eternal condolences to the Haughton family and all of Aaliyah's fans and friends. Also, to the families of the eight souls who passed away on that terrible day, my eternal prayers and sadness goes to you as well.

My Rememberance of Aaliyah and a dedication to Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes Like most people, I heard of Aaliyah when she came out with "Back and Forth" from her first album Age Ain't Nothing But a Number. Since the day I heard her, she was easily my favorite singer. It didn't hurt for us to be so close in age either. She was 10 months older than me. Anyway, I admired her for being such a strong singer, talented dancer, and, probably the most important thing for me, she was pretty and wasn't afraid to dress like a tomboy. I bought the tape (because I had no money for a CD) and immediately fell in love with it. Two years later, babygirl hit us with One In a Million. I still remember seeing the "If your girl only knew" video. I was like "Dang, Aaliyah hit us again." From music to movies, Aaliyah was the bomb for all of us. It seems like the last few memories I have of her all took place in only a few weeks. I am sad to say that I didn't even know she had a new CD out until like two weeks before her passing. I had seen the "We Need a Resolution" video a mere week and a half before the CD's release. Unfortunately, I only saw the video once, so I thought it was a new song from another soundtrack. Long story short: I missed Aaliyah's last few months of life, her newest CD's release and all the happy things about her. When Aaliyah died, it was like a piece of me died. So I tell people that I have been to the Bahamas, but that a part of me is still there. I may go the rest of my life with a piece of my innocence in the beautiful Bahamas. Aaliyah was One in Infinity. She can never be replaced. Of all the artists that I have loved, have CDs of, or whatever, Aaliyah is still the only one I say I grew up on. She will always be with me. I will never forget her.

As Part of the group TLC, Lisa Lopes became Left Eye very quickly for me. I loved her. In Fact, when I was in 7th grade all of our groups picked a celebrity to dress like, and my friends and I covered our Left Eyes to imitate Lisa. When she passed I caught ugly flashbacks. It wasn't enough that she died on the 25th of the month, but her death, too, hit as though it was a rumor. I prayed it was a rumor, just as I did with Aaliyah. And, just as was the case with Aaliyah, it turned out to be horribly true. Lisa's death affected me in a whole different way. Because she had switched to "NINA" and was on 106 & Park just a few months before her passing, I had disliked what she had become. She was purely Suge Knight, and that disappointed me. The way she denounced TLC ties on air, pissed me off. I had always known her as Left Eye, not NINA-- Puppet for Suge Knight. That wasn't the artist I had grown to love. But all that changed abruptly when she died. Now we mourn her, as we have mourned so many others, but so few in the art of music so recently. I pray that we don't deal with this again for a long time. while I realize that people die and that is just part of it, I still would hope that no more tragedy pops off. If I have to add another section to this site, I will be absolutely devistated. God bless us.
