Maddie Reimschiel played for the US in the World Sports Festival
in Vienna Austria this past summer. She met alot of people from
Austria and Europe including a survivor of the Austrian concentration
camp. It was a great volleyball experience for Maddie.
Kalisha Goree (13 BLUE) competing in the AAU Track & Field Regional
Championship in July. The regional track meet brings together the top
track talents from 3 states (Indiana, Illinois, and Kentucky) to compete
for the opportunity to represent the Midwest Regional at the AAU National
Track Championship.
Kalisha competed in 4 track events over the 4 day championship in the
Sub-Youth Division; Pentathlon (100m Hurdles, Shot Put, High Jump, Long Jump,
and 800m Run), 100m Hurdles (15.77), Long Jump (16"2) and High Jump (4"10).
Kalisha took home the Gold in all 4 events, breaking the regional records
in the 100m Hurdles (15.77) and the long jump (16'"2). Kalisha also broke
the Indiana AAU Track & Field hurdles record at the state meet in her age .
In July the volleyball club had our first "international player"
attend one of the summer sessions - Francisco 'Paco' Mansilla, from
Albacete, Spain. Paco is 13 years old and attends Compania de Maria,
in Albacete, Spain. He was one of 16 other exchange students from Spain
that visited Fort Wayne from June 30 to July 28.
Congratulations to Molly Richardson (FW 16blue) for winning the
"Best Outside Hitter" award at the IPFW speciality (July 2008).
Alexis Fuelling (FW 16blue) and Erica Moss (FW 17blue) were both
honored with special wards at the Purdue Camp (July 2008). Erica for
setting and Alexis for outside attacking. Congratulations to both!
Caroline Terrell and Olivia Sterba competed in the City Swim meet on Sunday.
Both helped their 100 Medley Relay team to a 3rd place Bronze Medal. Olivia
finished with 3 Gold medals in individual events. They are team mates in both
swimming (Glenaqua Club) and volleyball (FWVBC 10/9 starters).

Two happy players 04/30/2008 Photo: Parent Our up and coming volleyball stars in the 10/9 Starter program finished their 2008 season on Wednesday night. After another fun packed night, the girls were awarded individual medals by head coach Steve Florio and his team of assistant coaches. Another great year for our young diggers and spikers! |
18 Blue 04/29/2008 Photo: Parent The 18 Blue team finshed 2nd in the Best of America Tournament held on April 26 and 27. After a miraculous win in the semi-finals against Dead Frog, the 18-blue team fell just short in the finals losing 15-12 in game three to Cleveland Renaissance. In the Semi-Finals, the 18 Blue team found themselves down 11-3 in the third and deciding game to 15. With gritty defense and a fearless attack, they were able to come all the way back and win the game and the match 16-14 and advance to the finals. After splitting games one and two in the finals with Cleveland Renaissance, 18 Blue fought hard in game three but Cleveland was able to hold on and win 15-12. 18 Blue went 6-1 overall this weekend and is 10-3 over their past two tournaments. A special thanks goes to Jorae Bradburry (17Blue), Erika Moss (17Blue), and Alex Fuelling (16Blue) for helping 18 Blue to the silver medal this weekend. |
