Now Released ... in Japan
The 64DD is now released in Japan with at least five games released with it. Check down below for current and future releases.

August 23 Nintendo has announced three "add-on games" to current or soon-to-be-released N64 games. Mother 3.5 will be a "second quest" of sorts to Mother 3 (EarthBound 64 in North America). The F-Zero X Expansion Set lets you make custom cars and custom tracks when used with the game F-Zero X. And Ura Zelda (meaning "Another Zelda") lets you play a second quest when used with The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. By the way, Ura Zelda and Zelda Gaiden are not the same game. They are almost completely different. Zelda Gaiden is a cartridge game for the N64 and will be released in Japan next March. Ura Zelda, as well as the other two "add-on games", have no release date.
Also, since the 64DD will only be released Japan, the "place" column for the software and hardware lists has been removed. This will make the lists less crowded, too.
June 19 It has been recently announced that the 64DD add-on game to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (which was called "Ura-Zelda") will be at Nintendo of Japan's upcoming Space World expo show in Japan. The official title for this game is Zelda: Gaiden and the game is to be released later this year (in Japan). (By the way, the Space World expo is this August.)
May 19 Nintendo did show off the 64DD and the Mario Artist games at this year's E3, but said that the 64DD will definitely not be released in the US. The Mario Artist series will be released on cartridge in the US in the form of Mario Artist & Camera. Even though it won't be for the 64DD, it will use the upcoming 64GB Pak, which will allow you to upload photographed images, from your Game Boy Camera, onto the N64 game. I believe that you will also be able to print out pictures, that are on the N64 game, using the Game Boy Printer. Since the 64DD isn't going to be released here in America, I can only assume that SimCity 64 will also be released on cartridge.
April 9 It has been confirmed that the 64DD will be released in June 1999 in Japan. Also, at the launch of the add-on, Nintendo will be releasing the Mario Artist games, also. According to Nintendo of Japan, all four of the Mario Artist games are almost completely done, so it looks as if the release date of the 64DD is true (finally). Other major 64DD games, from Nintendo, include: Fire Emblem 64, SimCity 64, Cabbage, and Zelda DD. That last game mentioned is supposed to be an "add-on" game to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, which is already released on the N64. Let's hope that the 64DD is released in America as well.
March 18 Nintendo of Japan has moved the release date of the 64DD to the fall of this year. Also, Marigul and Param's Kyojin no Doshin (Doshin, the Giant) will be released around the same time as the release of the 64DD. Param is pushing Nintendo to release the 64DD, so you can be sure that this game will not be released on cartridge, at least not in Japan.
January 7 Well, here we are in 1999 and there's no 64DD. Is it cancelled? No, but a lot of the games for it (by Nintendo) have been moved to cartidge including: EarthBound 64, Super Mario RPG 2, and Pokémon Snap. Super Mario 64 II has been unofficially announced as a Nintendo 2000 game (check the Nintendo 2000 Section for more info) and the only games left that are by Nintendo include: SimCity 64, the Mario Artist series, Cabbage, Fire Emblem 64, and Zelda DD. Not all of those games are announced to be released in the US (assuming they will be released in the US). But don't lose hope. I think the 64DD will be out sooner than you think and that it will be as great as the Nintendo 64 itself.
November 23 It doesn't look good for the 64DD. In Japan, the 64DD and all of its games have no firm release date. There has been a lot of talk around the internet about the idea that the 64DD will not be released in North America and probably very late for Japan. On the good side, however, none of the known 64DD games have been cancelled. Miyamoto really wants some of his games (Super Mario 64 II, SimCity 64, Mario Artist series, and Zelda DD) to be released for the 64DD. Only time will tell if any of these games and the 64DD get released.
September 3 The 64DD has been delayed until June 1999 in Japan. If it does get released in North America (and it is released in Japan in June), then the American release date will probably be fall 1999.
July 25 Three Japanese 64DD games (from Nintendo) aren't going to be 64DD games anymore. This is bad news for every 64DD fan. The three games are Mother 3 (EarthBound 64 in the US), Super Mario RPG 2, and Jungle Taitei Leo. Don't worry too much, though. The games are NOT cancelled. They will be coming out in cartridge form. If they do change back to disk format, you'll see it in this section.
July 18 The Japanese version of F-Zero X has been confirmed to have a 64DD option on it. It is still unknown as to whether the American version will also have it.
