The Aaron Semenske Scholarship Foundation was established to provide
scholarships in memory of Riverside Brookfield High School student-athlete
Aaron Semenske who died suddenly on November 26, 1996 at Washington University
in St. Louis. Aaron was a great role model and friend and continues
to be missed by those who knew him. The scholarship serves as a living
memorial to remind us what a great inspiration and influence he was on
many people.
The scholarship recipient is considered on the basis of academic achievement, athletic participation, involvement in the community and/or religious groups, and demonstrated leadership in the community, the classroom and on the athletic field. Our mission is to reward those students who work hard and use their abilities not only for personal gain, but also for the betterment of those around them.
Our Seventeenth Annual Picnic Fundraiser on July 13, 2013 was another huge success. We awarded our seventeenth scholarship to Thomas L., who just completed his freshman year at Purdue University. We will award the eighteenth scholarship this May, a $2,000 four-year renewable grant to an RBHS student.
Our success each year is largely due to the generous support of the business community. We raised over $11,000 at our yearly picnic, with about 100 people participating in the fundraiser at Ehlert Park in Brookfield, Illinois. All donations are advertised on our placemat at the picnic and in our thank you letter.
Our Eighteenth Annual Fundraiser will be at Ehlert Park in Brookfield on Saturday, July 19, 2014!! Click HERE to see a few pictures of Jim Peterik's amazing performance at the 2003 Picnic!!!
Thank you for assisting us in our efforts. We are moving closer to our goal of a $2500 four year renewable scholarship! Donations and door prizes can be sent to the address below or please contact Ann and Doug Semenske at the e-mail address below if you have any questions. We look forward to hearing from you.
The Aaron Semenske Scholarship Foundation, Ltd. is a not-for-profit corporation. All donations are tax deductible.
