Chapter 29 - Aren't you romantic?

(the little serenade)

When we climbed out of the car and walked to the door, I could hear the music blazing. My eyes widened when I entered and saw a trashed house and various groups of drunk teenagers scattered about. I tripped over a chair in the middle of the room.

Regaining my balance, I looked around. My eye stopped, seeing something familiar. Standing on the opposite side of the room, was Alexandra---but she wasn't alone. She was talking to another guy. She was obviously flirting with him. My face flushed with jealousy.

Suddenly she looked up, and we made eye contact across the room. Alex said something to the guy she was talking to, then began walking towards me. I ran my fingers through my hair, trying to act cool and casual, when inside, my heart was torn in two. Somebody tapped me on the shoulder.

I whirled around, to face Amber. She was grinning at me in a sickening way. Before I could protest, she shoved her lips onto mine, saying, "Oh Taylor, I've waited so long..." I tried to push her off of me, but somebody else did that for me. I turned to thank the person that pulled her off of me, only to see that it was Alexandra.

"What the hell do you think you're doing?" she exclaimed.

"Alex....I'm sorry, I--" I tried to explain, but she interrupted me. That was when I realized that her question was directed towards Amber.

"Wha.....What?" stammered Amber, turning red.

"I asked you what the hell you thought you were doing to MY boyfriend. If you ever come near him like that again I swear I'll kick your ass! Now stay away you little bitch!" Alexandra shocked me, I'd never heard her sound like that before.

Amber's face turned a deeper shade of red, then she mumbled sorry and walked away.

I turned to Alex, who was still fuming. "Thanks Alex, how'd you know that I didn't mean to kiss her? Because it looked like..."

"I know what it looked like, and I saw what she did. The sick pervert forced herself on you!" Alex explained.

"So you know that it wasn't my fault?" I asked.

"Yes," she said slowly, "I know it wasn't your fault." I got the feeling that we weren't talking about the kiss with Amber. We were taking about the other kiss--the one with Jenn. Alex slowly took a step towards me, and I saw a tear in her eye. I pulled her to me and wrapped my arms around her.

"I'm so sorry," I whispered. Suddenly she pulled away.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"Taylor, I--I can't," then she ran up the staircase. I pushed pass dozens of people, chasing after her.

"Alex! Wait!" I shouted. She ran into a room, slamming the door. Just as I reached it, I heard the lock click.

I heard Taylor's footsteps retreating from the door. I sighed. I really didn't know what to think. There was a window on the other side of the room. I walked over to it and kneeled on the windowseat, gazing out into the starlit sky and a full moon.

I thought I heard something. I pressed my ear against the cold glass of the window. I heard it once more...music. I lifted the latch and opened the window, peering down. I heard it again, singing.

A clear, sweet voice. Taylor.

"When you have no light to guide you, and no one to walk beside you, I will come to you, oh I will come to you..."

I began to cry. I saw Taylor's shadow behind a tree. He continued.

"When the night is dark and stormy, you won't have to reach out for me, I will come to you, oh I will come to you..."

I closed my eyes. Keeping them closed, I felt lips on mine. When we parted, I opened my eyes and found myself staring deep into Taylor's innocent, genuine blue eyes. He was standing on a ladder.

"Can I come in?" he asked with a smile.

I pretended to think about it, then I grinned, and motioned for him to enter. Tay climbed in. We sat side by side on the bed.

"I'm sorry Alex," he said for the hundredth time.

"Me too Taylor," I said..

"You're sorry for what?" he asked. I leaned up and kissed him tenderly, placing my hands on the back of his neck, tugging lightly on his rat-tail.

I smiled. "I'm sorry for taking this long to forgive you," I said softly. "Tay..." I continued, "that was the most romantic, sweetest, nicest thing anyone has ever done for me..."

"Shhhhh..." he said, placing a finger on my lips.

I spoke anyway. "Tay..."

"Yeah?"

"Do you want to...um...." I stammered.

"You mean you want to....?" he asked, clearly surprised.

"Yes, I want to Taylor," I said confidently. He smiled. Slowly, he pulled his shirt over his head, and soon followed the rest of our clothes. Shortly after, we both became intimitate with another human being for the first time. At least, I thought it was the first time for both of us.

Has it been to soon after Emily? No...I love Alex and I'm with her now, Emily is in the past now.

"Oh......Emily..." Taylor muttered quietly, so quiet that Alex barely heard him.

"What did you call me?" Alexandra asked.

"I said, 'oh...Alex," Taylor told her quickly.

"Okay, that's what I thought I was just making sure, because it sounded like something else," she said.

"It wasn't," he told her.
