BONSAI

The bonsai or the art of dwarfing trees, saw cultivation by the Japanese for many centuries. Requiring many years of devoted attention and care to produce, the bonsai extends beauty and expresses the significance of life.

:

The bonsai may consist of the following 6 forms.

  1. A single tree in either an upright or leaning position.
  2. Two trunks growing out of a single stump or two trees planted in such a way as to give rise to such an illusion.
  3. A group of trees.
  4. Highly exposed roots.
  5. Roots emerging as if embracing a rock;
  6. Trees or trunks appearing as if overhanging a cliff.
In these creations, important consideration must be given to the trunk, the roots, the attitude of branches, the texture of soil and tree and to the open spaces. Collectively, these factors complete and give expression to the particular bonsai.
