Description of the Concierge ProfessionThe concierge is available to hotel guests to assist them in almost any activity. The list of concierge duties is as diverse as the questions that are presented to them which requires them to be knowledgeable in many different fields. Some of the more common tasks performed by the concierge include providing general information, giving directions and sending and receiving packages and faxs. Concierges are instrumental in making restaurant recommendations and reservations and can provide menus for guests to review. Visitors often request suggestions for sightseeing and attractions and the concierge can be very helpful with planning itineraries, booking tours and arranging excursions. The concierge has all the listings for guests in search of entertainment be it the symphony or the nightclubs. Sports fans regularly request concierge assistance in procuring tickets or making a tee time. Weary travelers often consult the concierge to make appointments for day spas, salons and massages. Celebrations can be made more special with the concierges help in hiring a babysitter, chartering a limousine or having flowers delivered. In short, the concierges job description is relative to the guests needs. And it is the concierge who makes sure those needs are fulfilled.
