Information received by two of Samuel's descendants:

 

Tom Crow his Aunt Opal told him that Mary E. Gardiner's middle name was Elizabeth.

 

Dave Parscale sent this information:   he found a Mary Ham gravesite in Milton,Oklahoma.....outside of Poteau.....where Thomas apparently lived.....

The stone shows..........Mary Ham born Oct 18 1850 died Aug 29 1933 She is also listed in the Dowden Funeral Home book......the book also shows cause of death as paralysis........

 

Dave also tells this story  his grandmother told; it is about Mary Gardiner being an infant in an Indian camp that was overrun by American solders. One of the solders saved her and she was raised by a white family. This solder was to one day become the President of the United States!

Notes for MARY E.:

There is a discrepancy on whether her maiden name was Overton or Gardiner.

This was found in a newspaper concerning their son Thomas, however and in 2000 have heard from two descendants of hers and her son Thomas that Gardiner was her maiden name.

Complication diabetes, 5 months. Buried Hoffman Cemetery, May 1, 1884. Physician: S.S. Ham, Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

3.  THOMAS F. HAM, b. December 22, 1864, Bern, Illinois; d. January 8, 1925, LeFlore County, OK; m. (1) LUCY ANN CHRISTIAN; m. (2) WILLIE PETRAY.

No confirmation on his two wives or the children or date of birth. Still need proof as of 6-2000
