Fishing
for peas
Fishing
for peas is a
great and simple
way to let your
rat cool of an a
hot day. (if
they like to get
wet). All you
have to do is
get a small tub
or paint tray
and fill it partway
with water. Then
add some frozen
peas and allow
you rats to fish
for them in the
water. It's a
good idea to
keep a towel
handy to keep
your rat from getting
you wet. My
rat never liked
water but she
did like grabbing
the peas from
the side of the
tub. (Rats that
do like the
water will jump rite
in and go for
the peas)

On
a string
This
is a fun idea
for holidays and
birthdays for
you rat. It
simply hangs
from your rat's
cage. You can
simply use a cotton
string and thread
on fresh fruit,
nuts, seeds, no buttered
popcorn and others.
(just change the
string every day
if you use fresh
fruit). My
little girl
loves to eat all
her favorite
treats off the
string.

Hammocks
Hammocks
are a great
place for your
rat to hang out
have fun and get
some r&r.
They can be very
simple to make.
You can simply
hang an old
towel by its
four corners
with some rope, wire,
or pins to the
cage. Rats will
have fun
jumping,
playing, and sleeping
in them. It's a
good idea to
make more then
one, so they
have some thing
to play on when
the other is
being
washed.

Rat
trash bin
A
rat trash bin is
an easy and cheep
whey to give you
rat hours of
fun. All you
have to do is
get a bin that
can fit you rat,
and fill it with
shredded
newspaper. Then
mix in some of
you rats favorite
foods like:
nuts, seeds, pellets
and others. Your
rat will have allot
of fun digging
threw the
box of trash
looking for something
to eat.

Food
bag
This
is one the
simplest ideas
ever it only
take a few minuets.
Just cut up
fresh fruit or vegetables
and mix in some
seeds. Place on
a peace paper towel
and twist the
end shut, you
can do as many different
layers as you
wont. Then tie
up in the cage
or simply place
in there food
dish. Your rat
will love to rip
open the little bundle
and see what's
inside.

Nests
Nests
are a great
place for your
rat to sleep or
play in. It's
worm, keeps out
the light, and
is a good place
to hide food. Nests
can
be
as
simple
as
a
tissue
boxes. You
can
also
make
your
own
from
a
old
lunch
box.
Simply
cut
out
a
opening
big
enough
to
fit
your
rat.
This
can
also
be
dun
using
Tupperware
containers.
Or
make
one
out
of
wood.

Treats
in a tube
by:
Karen
Coffey
When
I got this idea
from Karen I was
excited, so I went
right away and
gave it a shout,
my rat loved it.
I also love it
because it was very
simple. All you
have to do is
get
the inside of a
toilet roll,
scrunch up one
end and fill
with rattie
goodies, scrunch
up the other
end, give to
rats, sit back
and watch them
rip it to
shreds!

Rat
Gardens
by:
Lena
My
girl rats always
run and dig in
my flower pots
whenever they
are out. They
have managed to
kill several of
my plants by
doing so. Fed up
with this I
bought a three
gallon
rubbermaid box
with high walls.
I filled it a
third ways up
with fertilizer
-free sterilized
dirt, watered it
and threw in a
handful of
birdseed. They
girls loved it.
They would eat
the birdseed and
dig up the
sprouted seeds.
They also ate
some of the dirt
as well. I would
put their ladder
on the outside
of the box so
they could climb
in it when ever
they wanted and
they could
easily jump out.
It was easy to
take care of and
I didn't water
it too often,
since there were
no holes punched
into the bottom
of the box. The
only problem
with it was
knocking it
over. The box
came with a top
and I put the
top on when it
wasn't being
used and that
saved my rug
many times.
