A Few More Games...

My Bubbly Heart

Heart bubbles For this game, you will need 60" of 5/8" red ribbon, A coat hanger bent in the shape of a heart, a glue gun, a plastic drop cloth, a small jar of bubbles for each child and masking tape.
Ahead of time, wind the red ribbon around the wire and secure with glue. Shape it into a heart and hang from the ceiling at the kids' eye level using the string. Cover the floor below with the drop cloth. Depending on the age of the children, place the masking tape a few feet away from the heart and have children take turns blowing bubbles through the heart. Points can be given for how many bubbles make it through. The other kids love to stand around the drop cloth and help count !

Heart Hop Relay

Heart Hop Relay For this game you will need masking tape, and 2 pre-made large heart cut-outs per team ( large enough for a child to stand on). These can be made out of construction paper or cardboard and can be laminated to last longer ( but they will be slippery, not a good idea for tile floors). Divide the children into teams and mark the starting and ending line with the masking tape. Give each starting child 2 heart cut-outs and when you say "GO" they will place one heart on the floor and hop onto it. Then they will do the same with the second heart and pick up the first repeating these steps until they reach the finish line. Then they run back to the starting line and hand off the hearts to the next child. The first team to have all of their children finish wins.

Calendar Toss

Calendar Toss
For this game you will need a reproduction of the calendar for the month of February made on poster board decorated to look like the example above which can be laminated, 3 wooden painted hearts (found at craft stores) or you can use pringles potato chip canister lids with hearts painted on them and also some masking tape.
Place the calendar on the floor and mark an age appropriate starting line with the masking tape. Each child takes a turn tossing the hearts onto the calendar. Add up the numbers the hearts land on for the child's score. If the heart lands on the 14th, the child gets 14 points plus 100 bonus points for Valentines Day. For younger children, you may wish to make up a point value for the "heart-covered" extra spaces on the calendar.
