Mrs. George Field, on east Oak St. accidentally fell down the cellar stairway at her home about 6 o'clock last evening and sustained injuries which caused her death at 3 o'clock this morning.
The funeral services will be held from the home Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. Carpenter officiating, with interment following in the
Deceased was born in Springfield, Ohio, and was the daughter of Samuel and Nancy Hinkle. Eight children were born in her family, all being dead except one sister, Margaret Canster, of Long Lane, Mo. She was married in 1880 to George E. Field and has lived in Valparaiso since 1882. Six children were born to this union, Clarence, Walter, Harvey and Nelson, of this city, Elmer of Chicago. The only daughter, Mary, died when 8 years of age. Mr. Field, the husband, died 7 years ago. She was a life long member of the Methodist church and was beloved by a large circle of friends.
When the accident, which caused her death, occurred, she had gone to get some butter for the evening meal and had a plate and knife in her hand, but stepped into an open cellar door , falling to the concrete floor below. No bones were broken, but she was picked up unconscious and never rallied from the effects of the fall sufficient to regain consciousness.

Mrs. George Field was Lavica Hinkle, the daughter of Samuel Hinkle and Nancy Cowan.
Lavica is buried in the Maplewood Cemetery, Valparaiso, Porter County, Indiana, next to her husband, George, and daughter, Mary Ellen.
Margaret (Hinkle) Canster was the married name of Lavica's sister, and should be spelled Cansler.
