Grinspoon are originally from Lismore NSW Australia but are now based in Byron Bay. The first song ever written by Grinspoon was titled "Clockwork". When the band heard that Triple J was holding a competition they decided to enter. They sent a demo to Triple J's Inaugural Unearthed Competition which they won. The song that won them the Unearthed competition was "Sickfest" which then went onto becoming number 1 on Triple J for 7 weeks.
