Outer Space

Besides the activities on the planet's surface, Illusia also has much space borne development occuring on the three mones that orbit around it. Beyond any hope of intervention by Babbit, and also beyond the most directy influence of any force on the planet below the outer space region around Illusia has become dominated by many out-of-system people looking to make money one way or another. Outer space thus is not the safest or most docile place to live.

LX27 - "Boom Town"

LX27 is a mining settlement on Blue moon. One of the highest producers of raw materials used in starship construction, this area is very industrial in nature. The name Boom Town was given this settlement because of the high energy explosives used to create new mines and mine shafts.

Crime in this settlement is very low on any noticeable scale. The only thing truly worth stealing here is shipments of raw materials, but even this is impractical. It is impractical simply because unless the thief is connected to a specific group or is hired to steal the materials it is very unlikely they will be able to do anything with it. Processing the materials is very costly, and no one is willing to buy the materials raw from a criminal simply because the criminal cannot compete with the already low prices of the ultra-efficient settlement.

Settlement BX77 - "Launch Town"

Most of the raw materials from Boom Town and similar mining settlements is shipped directly to Launch Town. Launch Town was built simply because it is very cheap to be so near the raw materials (the shipping costs is almost nullified by the distance). Launch Town is the primary producer of space ships in Illusia System. Ships are usually made here and then shipped in bulk to various retailers in moons, or even further the Illusia System.

A private police force has been dispatched within this settlement, vowing protection to any ship plant willing to pay the staggering price. But despite this protection crime is still rampant here. Mostly thieves strike just after a shipment of brand new ships has left to be shipped somewhere else. The entire cargo is hijacked, tow-ship and all. But a profit is still made in excess enough to merit good buisness and the budgeting of such thefts.

Settlement RS07 - "Skeleton Town"

This is one of the few pure residential settlements of Blue moon. Even so the population is comparatively low to settlements on other moons. People who live here live in relative isolation and peace as compared to other settlements. Many a bounty has been found years later in this town, having died of old age.

Basic ships, basic ship parts, raw materials and common good are easy to come by and they are cheap here, while anything more elaborate may often be several times more expensive if it can even be found.

Settlement TX22 - "Yellow Town"

The computer technology development base of Illusia System, most of that flavor of technology is developed her. Ship/Computer interfacing is the foremost developed technology here. Importing materials directly from Blue and Red moon, Yellow Town uses these materials to create ship computers, and to experiment and develop even better ship computer prototypes.

Espionage is common in this sector leading to several forms of defense differing from company to company. Some hire private police forces, others use their own technology to safeguard their facilities. But if anyone has the skills and the planning to infiltrate one of these companies the payoff could be big.

Settlement ABX27 - "Black Town"

Much like Skeleton Town, Black Town is a research based city. But instead of developing computers this place develops and test military grade weapons. And so, high level espionage is even more common. But added to that, there is a high level of certain danger due to malfunctioning weapon prototypes. On many accounts, completely by accident, certain weapon projects have wound up destroying entire portions of the city.

A safe distance from the city there is a weapons testing facility where anyone willing to pay the relatively high fee can detonate their weapons in completely controlled environments built to suit individual needs. But that doesn't prevent certain stingy companies from testing their weapons right in Black Town despite the danger involved.

Settlement TT44 - "Glitter Town"

This is the rest spot for visiting higher-ups of the various companies represented among the moons. With luxurious accommodations, fine dining, entertainment, shopping and various other rich-man pleasures Glitter Town has begun to evolve into a moon based resort location. Crystal Light art, used highly in Lellenon on Illusia has found its way up into Glitter Town but is a great deal more flashy then it is deep or creative.

Settlement LW02 - "Nail Town"

This settlement is the common residential zone of Yellow Moon. Living off the riches of the technology developed, and the spilled over commerce of the nearby Glitter Town, Nail Town enjoys a slightly elevated living standard compared to other residential settlements. Shops are more abundant, and they hold more rarities. But these same shops charge more then normal for common goods found easily elsewhere.

Black Lemon Mines

Originally this mining operation was born out of the collective desires of a group of space criminals. Forming a temporary pact the criminals came together and began to mine gold from one of the richest portions of Red moon. But as the corporations began to move closer and closer to them, and exercise open and secret means to remove the criminals from their mine something interesting has happened. With a legitimate prize to protect the criminals have begun to find their humanity all over again. Heroes are born from the worst of men, as they go all or nothing, with typical space outlaw attitude, to protect their hill 'o gold.

Families have begun to form as children, native only to the Red moon are born. With even greater treasure at stake, the group (now calling themselves Red Eyes) have put up a vicious front, but deep within their own mines they show their children the value of hard work and how to use their hands both legitimately and dastardly if the need ever arose.

On a side note, the name of the mines came from a popular drink shared commonly amongst the Red Eyes.

Red Gold Mines

This mine is owned and operated by Unlimited Universe Enterprises. A devious corporation, UUE would consider no tactic too dirty to use, nor trick too black to exploit in order to control all over Red moon. Though they appear as a normal company they are known among the other settlers to be the "demons" of Red moon. For their attacks are in secret and strike without warning, against Red Eyes and Corporations alike.

Dekkon Base

At first built to be a simple corporate building for Star Thruster Ship Yards (a ship building company), this place quickly evolved into a full fledged military installation in direct responsibility only to Star Thruster Ship Yards itself. The goals of Dekkon Base are openly professed. Using any form of hostilities or negotiation they wish to gain control over a substantial amount of gold mining operations on Red moon.

Not having any mining operations in the base itself, Dekkon professes complete openness to gold runners. But long time runners stay clear of Dekkon, as there are rumors of certain runners disappearing in the base never to be seen again, ship and all. It is rumored that Dekkon is conducting experiments to create the perfect genetically altered soldier that can survive in the atmosphere-less space of Red moon.

Blue Moon

Blue moon is resource rich and the location of many industrial zones and structures. The production mostly has to do with ship construction, but more precious stones are saved to be sold to technology and Hybrid dependent settlements.

Yellow Moon

Since there are no natural resources on Yellow moon, many corporations have decided to place their offices and research centers on Yellow moon to save space on the other moons for mining and industrial development. Yellow moon is the richest moon as it reaps the benefits of the rich that live there. The rich that grow rich off the work done on the other moons. Technology is also developed here in large amounts, the solitude from land disputes making the process simplier.

Red Moon

An interesting moon as compared to the first two, Red moon has a high concentration of gold mineral in the soil. Gold is considered a very precious resource not for its rarity, but instead for its semi-conductor properties necessary in many ship computers as well as other computing machines. Because no other landmass in the entire Illusia system contains any reasonable amount of gold Red moon has become a harsh place of bitter land wars between three factions.

First there are the Red Eyes. Once confined to only one mine the Red Eyes have spread to hold a good number of mining systems all over Red moon. Once criminals, now that they have a legitimate and highly lucrative job, they are slowly becoming human again. Raising families, and fighting off the evils of the corporations these Red Eyes are becoming the Robin Hoods (of sorts) of the Red Moon.

Next there are the corporations. The other two moons are dominated by these corporations, but Red moon is not. Instead these corporations must fight to acquire any gold mining land at all. And usually, rather then relying on brute force (which they will use if necessary) the corporations resort to more sadistic measures of mine acquisition. Examples include kidnapping, mass murdering, and barricading of supplies.

Gold runners are the free spirits of Red moon. Simple thieves gold runners seek to secure gold by any means necessary. They are said to run small private mines of no more then four to six people, or they steal gold wherever they can get some. And they sell this gold to whoever will pay the most (usually the corporations, who fight for the gold amongst themselves).

There is a constant state of war on Red moon, and battles erupt without warning all over the place. It takes real courage to live on Red moon no matter who you are, and who you are fighting with.

First Orbit City

This place was built by Techarrin of the Jewl continent, together with several corporations represented on the moons. Mostly his structure is a large docking bay in stationary orbit above Techarrin. Large ships unable to enter atmosphere can dock at First Orbit City and then the people in the ship can shuttle to any of the three moons or down to Techarrin itself. There is little else on the space station other then residential quarters and ship service and docking areas.

Called a "city" this is the first fully man-made structure able to support life in space, but that is not attached to a moon. Though the population is low the structure is very large to accommodate the largest breeds of ships imaginable.
