Who Are The Hippycrickets?!?

The Hippycrickets Bio
What happens when an avid Plimsouls/Jam fan meets an equally avid Cavedogs/Replacements fan?  Well, the two form a band, of course!  Rory Odani (Guitars, vocals) met Troy Paterson (drums, mystic enhancements) in Pensacola, Florida.  They formed The Hippycrickets and moved to Atlanta in 1992.

In 1994, the band released a cassette entitled No Shoes, No Shirt, No Dice!.  While the release was envisioned as a demo, it received great reviews from friends and family, along with people the band didn’t even know!  In fact, it eventually got the attention of Paul Collins (member of power pop greats The Beat and The Nerves).

Paul Collins released “Margaret Sez” from No Shoes, No Shirt, No Dice! on a CD entitled Pop Matters Volume One on Wagon Wheel Records in November 1995.  The band then recorded two songs for a 7” single called G Chord which was released on the band’s own Broken Records in 1996.

In 1997, The Hippycrickets released their debut CD Inconceivable!!!.  Since then, three tracks have also been released on independent compilations.  The first track is on a CD called Pop Under The Surface Volume One on Sweden’s Yesterday Girl Records.  The second is on a CD entitled Fuzzy Logic on Maryland’s R.P.M. label.  The third is on a CD entitled Scattered on the Shut Eye Records label.  The Hippycrickets are currently working on the follow-up to Inconceivable!!!.

Our debut CD was played on 121 radio stations and charted in 13 markets.  We were reviewed in 17 different publications in the United States and beyond.  See our reviews page for What The Critics Think About Us.

...So What Do The Hippycrickets Sound Like?

The Hippycrickets combine sixties pop sensibilities with eighties influences to form a unique brand of guitar-fueled, power pop!  However, why read a bio about what a band sounds like?  Go listen to some samples from our CD, okay?  Have fun!
